This is heavy metal
I have this brute and love it. 70 years old male and physically fit. Had many snow blowers from a single stage "Homko" in the 60s to my tractor mounted 48" today, bought the Ariens to leave at our northern Maine camp. If you can't deal with heavy equipment expect to be challenged by the unlocked differential on these "steering" blowers. If the metal shoe on one side or the other catches on protuberances the blower will snatch to the side. One way to deal with this is to replace the metal shoes with nylon/plastic shoes. Otherwise "suck it up buttercup". This issue aside, the engine on this unit will grind through any drift.

Buffalo Storm Tested and PASSED!!
Selling my first Ariens was one of the biggest mistakes I’ve made….and I’ve made a lot of mistakes. I “upgraded” the the Cub Cadet 3 stage…after breaking 7 shear pins in a day…I was done. We just got hit with 5 feet of snow in Buffalo with another foot or 2 to come and I needed it gone. Everything was sold out locally so I drove an hour and a half to pick this bad boy up. OMG ITS A BEAST!!! Ripping through FEET…..not inches at a time. This is Buffalo…they had to cancel and move the football game it snowed so much. If everyone had this machine there wouldn’t be snow on any paved surfaces. I will only by Ariens from now on….they are the BUFFALO BLIZZARD CERTIFIED….KING OF THE SNOW!!!

A little piece of me just died...
Snowblowing my 120' x2 wide driveway used to be a chore, but also a guaranteed hour to myself and a decent workout wrestling the old 7hp 24' through Upstate NY winters. Finally got 6" of heavy snow today and got my first chance to really try it out. Watching my neighbor's 2-year old Craftsman Pro 30" pushing the snow around like a shovel as I got home, I was skeptical. The Ariens Deluxe 30 chewed it up and launched it 40'+ and barely noticed the EOD sludge. I was done in 15 minutes and practically bored while walking behind it as it stayed on course at a steady pace. This machine was worth every penny and genuinely impressed me. Now I have to force myself back inside and to find another time to squeeze in the workout!

Great Machine!
I have used many a snow blower in my days but used this for the first time in upstate NY in 10" of wet heave snow. Had to use the slowest speed but it had no issues on a 100 foot long driveway. It throws snow about 40 feet out so no worries about snow banks. Hand warmers worked fantastic. Now on the con side- headlight is marginal and it has a small gas tank. Had to refill once. It did get clogged once but that is not unusual with a wet heavy snow.

Deluxe 30 Review
I purcasehed the deluxe 30 in Jan 2018. I’m not sure why a lot of reviews complain of the Autoturn. I feel it works fine. I use this snowblower in addition to my atv plow in upstate NY. I used it in 10 inches of wet snow and higher from atv plow and then down to just a few inches. I had to slow to a lower gear in the wet heavy thick snow, but a few inches you can cruise along at any speed. After I read and the owners manual I had no issues starting the unit with the electric or pull start. I use only high test Ethanol free gas in it. This is a big heavy duty unit, solid steel. I’m a middle aged male in good shape. I wouldn’t recommed this unit for elderly or my wife, but if you’re a regular guy you shouldn’t have any issues with it and should enjoy using it.

Solid Machine
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good overall machine - throws snow a gold 40 feet and moves quickly through heavy wet stuff. Definitely get the 30inch with the 306 cc engine over the 28 with the 254cc. The extra power is a big plus if you have a large driveway. I have 5000 square feet on a hill and didn’t have any trouble getting the job done with 12 inches of snow. I did have some issues with the auto steer - it tends to grab a bit and the machine will buck some what if you do t have it moving fast enough to pick up enough snow.

Great Power, Speedy Removal but a Beast to Wrestle
This machine definitely has the power and speed necessary to clear my 500' New Hampshire driveway in about an hour. The problem I have is the "auto-turn" feature. Meant to make 180 degree turns easier be transferring power to one wheel while slowing (or stopping) the other, it's a feature that should add to this machine's allure. However, it's so overly sensitive that the slightest imperfection in the surface of the driveway (bump, dip, ice, frost heave) triggers the "auto-turn". As you can probably imagine, this happens almost constantly! If I make it 25' without it engaging it's rare. This may not sound like a big deal but believe me, it is. It turns what should be essentially a slow walk with minimal effort into a constant battle against this machine. I would caution any smaller or elderly person against using the Ariens Deluxe 30. If you are a strong person it will give you a workout as well as clear your driveway. Take it for what it's worth.

Auto-steer is a problem
This would be a good snow blower except for the auto-steer. The differential causes the unit to jerk from side to side whenever it meets uneven resistance. For example, if one side of the unit hits a tire track the differential disengages one wheel and the unit pulls off a straight line. It works good with fresh snow on a clean driveway. But if you have any ice pack or bumps in your driveway, this thing will give you a workout trying to keep it straight.
