Just wondering if its OK to leave this installed all year round? I live in Vancouver, we obviously get a lot of rain, but not super cold in fall/winter. Should I uninstall my units for the fall-summer seasons so they last longer or does it make a diff?
Hello, baeh. Thank you for your question regarding the Arctic King 5,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner. We do recommend that if you do not live in a climate that's hot year-round, you should remove your air conditioner and store it properly. Leaving it exposed to freezing temperatures and rain could damage the body and the inside parts. Have a great day. Arctic King Customer Care.

For the money, a game changer
I bought two of these for the few days out of a year when I will appreciate them. So far they've gotten me through a heat wave that comes along once in a generation. We hit 38 degrees yesterday and between the two of them they kept my 3 bedroom raised bungalow at 24/25 degrees. Combined with a fan and I was lounging in comfort through what might have been the hottest day ever recorded in Edmonton history. $150/unit is awesome and for the few times I use it during a year I can put up with a lack of fancy features. We'll see how many years I get out of them!

Not Worth buying
Had bought a Rona Uberhaus AC 3 years ago that stopped working on warrant, they gave me an Arctic King AC as a replacement under warranty. Installed the brand new Arctic King AC out of the box and it didn't work, called the warranty number and they will not warranty this product. Researched Arctic King and the reviews are awful. went out and purchased a Danby and its working great, better than the Uberhaus and Arctic King. Called Customer Service, had a conversation, emailed them to call me back, still waiting after 6 days

Big disappointment
Bought the window air condition to cool a 100 sq ft bedroom because the forecast is for a heat wave in Calgary. Installed the conditioner, ran it on low for 2-3 hours. It made a "groaning" noise when first turned on which I thought would correct; however, it began to overheat. The purchase was made at Rona's on June 18, returned to the store today June 24 and was refused, told to contact Arctic. Defective machine and poor customer service. Wouldn't recommend to an enemy let alone a friend.

Make sleeping tolerable
Bought this in spring for a horizontal slider to deal with an upper level west facing bedroom size around 240 Sq feet. It does make sleeping tolerable with outside temp of 25-32°, had a hard time keeping up above 28° days. I find once you turn the thermostat beyond level
6 it doesn’t make a difference- does not get any colder. Nice that the fan and AC does have different levels to choose from. This is a short term solution for us and I like sleeping with white noise, if it will not be a short term solution or you desire quiet and more power I recommend a good portable floor unit, more money but worth it and easier to manipulate to a window.

Very effective, quickly!
I bought this for my two bedroom, main floor house, for the summer months. Within minutes after I installed it, I could feel the cold air throughout my house!! Very happy with this air conditioner!

Perfect for a room
This AC works perfectly for a average size room. It gets cold pretty fast. Not worth using for more than one room.

Don’t bother
It’s 5000 BTU so obviously intended for a small room, however since it is quite loud we found it unpleasant to have it running continuously in a small room. Yes it cools, but after not using this despite the heat because of how much noise it makes, we went and bought a better unit that cost more then double but is actually useful. Save yourself the headache, unless you have some unusual situation where noise is not really an issue, just buy yourself a better unit
