Rated 2 out of 5 by jzmtl from Complicated design, not freeze proof Installed this last summer, and the past few weeks of -20 broke it. I took it apart and it's quite obvious why it failed. Instead of a simple rubber washer like most valve, it uses a ceramic cartridge and a spring loaded anti-back flow valve. However this complicated mechanism and many small plastic parts cause it unable to drain even if you have another inside shutoff valve, and more vulnerable to partial freezing of any left over water. In my case the leftover water froze and pushed the anti backflow valve out of place and blocked water flow permanently. Probably decent design for warmer places but not for Eastern Canada.

After completing all my installation did everything works except guess what....this little fellow.....it seems to be clogged internally somehow barely a bit of air can pass through.....Why didnt i read the reviews before....??? why didnt i took a minute to test it before closing ever down
