Is the top detachable for easy cleaning?

Yes top is detachable....but we refresh the water for the birds each day so it stay pretty clean. We just take a brush to it once a month without having to take it apart and add new water again...and it's good as new. Love this bird bath!

Are there stakes or anything to anchor it, and keep it from tipping over in the wind?

No but when it's filled with water for the birds each day to keep it clean it's too heavy for any wind to tip it. We love ours so much I'd like to buy a second one.

The fantastic color of this bird bath matches the dark colour of our brick and it's a modern house so this simple modern bird bath matches well. I wish I had bought a quantity of 2 of these bird baths in case of anything. I see it was on sale but I don't see any of your stores having any remaining. DARN IT!!! We love this bird bath a lot.....Modern, Simple, Goes with our house extremly well and attracts the birds! Really I'd buy another one if I could find one. To spruce it up I have this bird bath straddling two pieces of flagstone and two larger round stones in a space between the flag stone and then one rock inside the birdbath in case birds want to stand on it but they prefer the edges. It looks very nice as a focal point in our yard. I would include a photo but don't know how to do that.
