if you have to slide the roof panels from the back - how can i do this is i am butting this up against the wall of my house?
It is bad design and you only find this out when you are at the last couple of steps. We built ours on the deck and had no room to move the structure forward to put the panels in. Hubby had to get very creative with the panel supports and clamps. He did not screw the supports down but did set them on top of the frame. He moved them away from the wall far enough that he could slide the panels in from the house side. He used adjustable clamps to hold them in place while he worked. He worked with 2 panel supports to begin with working from one side of the gazebo to the other. After one set of 3 panels was installed, he moved one of the supports into place and screwed it down. He worked through all the supports in this manner until done. Definitely need two people to do this. Also, make sure that you take off the celophane coating from the top of each panel before sliding them into place. You will need an exacto knife to this.

What is the mechanism to slide the panels? Is it manual or automatic?
It is manual. We slide them open when we want to enjoy the sun, and also in the winter. They are not fully opaque. There is some left guy that comes through them

Can this gazebo be installed on a cement patio but still attached to the house?
Yes the back is square so will butt up against the house. FYI you cannot order parts for this anymore. We have been waiting for 9 months for a return we proceed. Terrible customer service from Allen Roth. Would never buy from them again.

We plan on installing this at our cottage which gets a good deal of snow. Are the roof panels able to handle heavy snow load?
Mine never broke after 8 years but I did shovel off heavy snow loads with a roof rate. As this modern unit unlike my original unit has sliding panels you just slide them all towards the inside and I think you would be OK it is pretty strong

I understand that Polycarbonate breaks down from UV https://www.irbnet.de/daten/iconda/CIB1832.pdf Is this uv protected completely ? "In a study, -Link above: UV exposure, making it susceptible to embrittlement and surface erosion.
My panels failed you to sunlight after 8 years and I replace them with clear acrylic panels but screwed right on top with no problem

Great product
I bought this in March 2021 after reading the reviews. The product takes a lot of time to install, but the instructions are very clear and everything is really well wrapped, organized and labelled. Including the unwrapping (the adhesive plastic on the panels took forever!), the whole process took about 6 hours.
I am very pleased with the product, it is beautiful, sturdy and looks durable, I love the option to move the panels to allow air flow.
I read many comments about the inability to insert the panels from the front: well there must have been someone listening, because I had the option to load it from the front or the back!

Good Quality Product & Looks Great!
Purchased this sliding roof gazebo this weekend and had it installed in 2 days, mostly working by myself.
I recommend to take your time to go through the instructions otherwise it will be easy to miss a step in the assembly of the components.
Our deck was just large enough to fit this gazebo, so I was not able to insert the roof panels from the back (too close to house). The 4 top panels had a backstop that prevents inserting from the front. To make it work, I bent the sides of the backstop 90 degrees so that it clears the side rails. This allowed me to insert the panels from the front. Once the back panel are in place, the sides can be bent back to its original form.

So far so good
We bought this two years ago to provide some shade and a screened in area for our deck. It has been really great, although the sun still shines through - it provides slight shade. We haven’t used the curtains or screen much since. But, I just noticed today that there are a bunch of tiny holes in the row of panels at the highest point of the structure. The whole row - they all have a bunch of holes. Not sure why. But you can see that pieces of plastic have broken right out. Not sure if or where we can get replacements .. I feel like I remember seeing somewhere that they don’t offer replacements but I could be wrong. Anyways, other than this issue, it has been great!

Great quality
Overall instructions were good, pieces well marked and great fit. Directions for the Roof, were not clear. The roof panels have to be installed from the top/high side down. Being one of the last steps, we had assembled the complete structure in place on the deck and close to the house, with anchoring to the house as the last step. To insert the roof panels, we placed temporary blocks under the back posts (closest to the house), to clear the house roof. Alternatively, assembling on the lawn and lifting (with lots of help) to the deck.

We love it so far!
My son and I build it last weekend, took us 4-5 hours, we read though all the instructions and realized it could not be put into place until the roof was installed. Our instructions say to install the roof from the back so leave enough room to get the panels in. Our instructions also said the front and middle panel LOCK, they do not. We could not figure it out until we returned to the store and had a closer look at the one there and then there was no problem. The middle and the back panel "lock" and by this I mean that the back panel has a front edge and the middle panel has back edge so that the middle panel is stopped from sliding completely to the front on the gazebo by this. but the front panel does not and slide right to the front.

Love the versatility we get with this shelter
Set up is a 2 person job. Was able to complete in 4.5 hrs. If I had to do it a 2nd time knowing what I know now i could cut that time in half.
Short cuts I recommend.
- watch UTube video
- Portion all the hardware by the numbered steps in the quick set up instructions.
- Cut the roof panels plastic (at the frame) shipping covering top and bottom with a box cutter
- Use a Drill/ impact driver
- make sure the 4 posts are on the proper ends. I had to reverse them when roof was being assembled. 15 min mistake.
- Once it was inplace for a few months I siliconed the top and middle roof panels at their bottom as rain pooled a little and leaked between the frame.
- On a windy day the curtains would blow off the rinky dink hooks. I took 5/16 bolts 3/4 long and put them thru the grommets securing the hooks in place with bolts.

looks nice. Difficult setup. Had to improvise
I put this together on a patio that's several feet off the ground. It just fits the space. After I assembled most of it I realized the directions say the roof panels go in at the high point (the building side). That was actually impossible from how I had assembled it since I could not move it forward. I had to improvise by removing he backstop of the top panels, do to this I had to carefully drill out the rivets. This way everything was able to slide in from the front. To reattach the backstop of the rear panels, I used 10mm m5 bolts that I found at home hardware

Satisfaction TBD
So I just finished installing this product and although the instructions are fairly simple to follow, you need to make sure you read carefully and look at the pictures. It took 4 people around 6-7 hours to install (short breaks in between steps). Installation of the roof panels is tricky and honestly poorly designed! My deck is 14’ x 10’ and this is 12’x10’ and you need to slide in the roof panels from the back (part against the house) and when your deck is only 10’ wide well it becomes difficult! We needed to remove the banister, slide the structure out and ensure that it was sort of level with the deck. Slide the panels in and then slide the structure back in place, sounds complicated but honestly it took just over an hour. Hopefully it will hold up and I will get to enjoy my backyard out of the sun.
