Please help me understand how this product works. The features on the container says the product is salt free. How does it effectively melt ice. The zeolite content in the product, is it only for traction or there are some other efficacy for it?
it also contains urea that will melt the ice. Zeolite is an all natural volcanic granule that acts like a sponge, absorbing the microscopic layer of water created by the urea in Alaskan® Pet Friendly Ice Melter. The microscopic jagged structure of Zeolite will embed itself into icy surfaces resulting in superior traction for the home owner. The urea is less drying to pet’s paws when compared to the traditional chloride material found in other ice melters. And as the melted snow and ice are shoveled off the treated area, the zeolite is cast on the lawn where the nutrients are later released and made available to the lawn.

We have a wooden deck front and is it safe for the pressure treated wood?
Alaskan Pet Friendly Ice Melter is not recommended on the following surfaces:

Concrete with a pattern and/or coloured concrete
Stone or brick masonry (including flagstone)
Precast concrete (steps or paving stones)

Poor Product
This does not melt anything! Its like spreading sand on the ice. Provides traction. Overall not worth the price tag.

Worked great!
Just bought a few bags of the "Pet Friendly". Used my handheld fertilizer spreader to apply. Fantastic traction right away and was able to shovel the ice off within an hour. Very happy with the product!
