Description

The Square D generator panels allows you to permanently connect a standby power source to specific circuits, such as lighting, heating, refrigerator, freezer, and sump pump. You can easily switch the power supply to branch circuits by turning off the utility main breaker and turning on the main breakers connected to the generator. For added safety, an easy to use rotating interlock bracket allows only one main breaker to be on the "ON" position at the same time. Ideally suited for residential, rural, commercial applications requiring a quick and easy switch over from utility power to standby generator power. Large circuit breaker capacity. Accepts up to 18 standard or 36 QO tandem circuits. Includes two factory installed 60A 3 pole main breakers. Ease of use from our patented rotating interlock bracket design. Manually switch from utility power to stand-by generator power in seconds. Suitable for generators having either bonded or unbonded neutral conductors.

After using this panel , do we still need to run grounding conductor for generator ?

Asked by: Gary01
Hi, if a generator is used in conjunction with this generator panel to supply power to a structure, then it must be connected to a grounding electrode system such as grounding rod. This panel uses 2, 3 pole breakers to transfer power from the utility to the generator. The 3 pole breaker switches the two lines and the neutral connection to prevent backfeeding, as the interlock prevents both breakers to be "on" at the same time.

If I wanted to supply an off the grid cabin. One side would be a manually started generator and the other side would be a solar system both under 60A,240V. Would this unit work and would I need a separate main panel if everything was in this panel?

Asked by: CaseyCasey
Hi, this panel has two, 3 pole breakers to switch power from two sources. Each breaker has L1(line 1), L2(line 2),and N(neutral) with an notched circle interlock in between, so that only one breaker can be tuned on at a time to feed power to the breakers in the panel. Each source of power has to feed the Generator panel with two hots, neutral and a ground. Two sources of power to the general panel are a stand by generator and another panel (usually the main panel) because the breakers in the Generator Panel feed devices that you want backed up at the time of power loss. On other words, the devices you want backup in your house are feed solely from the generator panel. When there is no power loss, the Generator Panel acts like a sub panel. If there is a power loss, then you manually switch the breakers, so that the standby generator now provides power to the panel.

Does this include the individual breakers for each connection?  Other than the 2-30 amp

Asked by: Trentmac
Hi, the branch breakers are to be purchased separately. Also note that this includes 2, 60A breakers. There is another version (QOGP3P3036) that includes 2, 30A breakers.

So as long as the wire is rated for 60A I am ok to put a 50A or 30A inlet?  I have not been able to find any reference to this being OK anywhere.

Asked by: Mikey1224
This is a 60A generator panel. You see two 3P 60A breakers in the generator panel. These two breakers do not trip, their purpose is to manually switch power from one source to another. Your wire matches the source. For example, if you have a 40A double pole breaker in your service entrance panel feeding the generator panel, your wire matches the 40A double pole breaker.

If this panel comes with a 60A 3 pole breaker for the generator, can it be connected to a CS6365 inlet box rated for 50A? If not then why bother providing this breaker? I would have to spend another $80 to get a 50A 3 pole breaker to match CS6365 inlet.

Asked by: Mikey1224
Hi, as a review the generator panel has two 3 pole breakers. One 3P 60A breaker is feed from the service entrance panel with a double pole breaker 60A or less. The generator panel is home to all critial loads in the house that you want to back up in case of a power failure such as the HVAC, select applicances, some lighting etc. This breaker is in the "on" postion most of the time. The second 60A breaker is hardwired directly to a 60A or less inlet box. When there is a power failure, you switch the 3P breaker feeding the service entrance panel to the "Off" position. That enables you to turn the round dial in the middle 180 degrees, so you can turn the 60A breaker feeding the inlet box to the "On" position. Plug your generator to the outside inlet box. Now, the generator will feed power to the breakers in the generator panel, and there is no backfeeding of power back to the grid. The two main breakers in the generator panel are acting as a manual transfer switch.

Dose it do 220v ?

Asked by: Macky1314
Yes, you can install 2-pole breakers to supply 240V loads. However, your generator must have the capacity to power the 240V load, i.e. sufficient wattage.

Hi all dose this  box do 240v  it says that it's  a shame pull?

Asked by: Macky1314
The Square D Generator Panel is 120/240V. The generator panel is connected (60A) to your service entrance panel via a double pole 60A breaker. The Generator panel consists of 2 - 3 pole 60A breakers. One breaker is connected to the serive entrance panel, while the 2nd breaker is connected to an outside receptacle that is connected to your generator. The rotating interlock allows you to transfer power from the utility to your generator. The rotating interlock only allows one of the breakers to be one at a time. (that is needed because you don't want to backfeed power back the grid from your generator) In the generator panel you put breakers that feed your critical loads that you want on when the power goes out. Hence you can put single and double pole breakers in the generator panel.

60A Square D Generator Panel with 18 Spaces/36 Circuits is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice panel for the money Very nice panel for 300 dollars, my biggest issues with it is it should have more or of a bonding bus, the panel comes with a few loosely screwed ones. I also think that for the money this item should come with some breaker blanks to fill the holes left when you move the breaker out of the main panel, I am having a hard time finding some where I live.
