Are there any discounts on DW734 planner?

Asked by: Ray C
I've been watching for 2-3 months and have not seen any discounts. Best bet is to watch for a save the tax type event.

Does this planer come with the Dust collector attachment (DW7331) or do i have to spend another 60-70 bucks on that?

Asked by: ShhVance

why does the guy in the picture holding the black bar? Does this planer pull the wood through on its own and is it good for planing enough wood to say a house? THANKS

Portable Planer with 3-Knife Cutter Head - 12 1/2" - 15A is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 172.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only one small issue This planer is grrat right out of the box. The tables are level and the knives cut perfect. I don't even notice any snipe. The only problem is with the dust collection. With the dust collection fitting set up, the rear table will not fold all the way up even when the power head is fully raised. I have a small shop so every inch counts. The table will still fold up to about the 10 o'clock position but it seems to be something that was overlooked in the design process. And unfortunately the fitting is not easily removed. There are three tiny screws that hold it in. Other than that, the planer is incredible. Well worth the money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from buyer beware planed 7 - 1 X 12 X 10's southern yellow pine boards. The 7th board would not "auto" feed (cutting depth 1/16th of an inch) after getting the board through the planer it had black roller marks all over it from the feed rollers. I called Dewalt tech dept and they told me I had to clean the feed rollers..."AFTER 7 BOARDS" , I explained. I have an old planer (name plate is missing) from many years ago and I never, repeat never had to clean the rolls because of poor feeding no matter what wood I was planing. I am taking the planer back to Lowes as I can not waste my time to clean the feed rollers every time I use the planer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the Money I did a lot of research before I finally made this purchase. No, I didn't need the best planer on the market but I still wanted a quality tool. It was ready right out of the box; table extensions were level, blades were adjusted, the only setup I had to do was attach the optional dust chute. I've run a variety of species from pine to oak with no problem at all. Just running wood through without paying attention to avoiding it, snipe is very minimal on longer boards. With care, snipe can be avoided altogether. The finish is very smooth and requires next to no sanding. I am very happy with this planer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Warranty Service This Planer was very good out of the box. I used this for several projects but, after about 6 months it began to overheat and would shut down during use. After being without the planer for a few weeks the factory service called and informed me they could not determine the cause of the unit shutting down. They informed me I would receive a new one as a replacement. I received my new planer in just 2 days. I went from being unhappy with the product to a very pleased customer. The guy at the service center was very helpful. I will definitely continue to buy DeWalt products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a great planer I had just had one of my drive rollers crumble on my 33 year old makita planer/joiner and thought I would look at new model planers when I purchased this one. After 5 minutes of reading the manual I put a rough cut piece of wood thru the planer and was really suprised to see how effortless it was to use. My Makita required the lumber to be manhandled to get it thru the planer. This planer is more than I expected on performance and features. I paid less for this planer than it would have cost to replace the 2 rollers on my older planer. The new one is a joy to use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I put it to work the next morning after I purchased it, taking about 100 lf of 8/4 x 12 rough white oak down to a finished 1 3/4" with out any issues at all. Dust and chip collection was easy with the included vacuum port, which I hooked up to a shop vac and chip separator, snipe was minimal right out of the box, no need to fuss with the outfeed and infeed tables. It worked much better than my old delta 12", and the blades have held up just fine. Seems like a nice solid machine for a portable, I would buy it a gain

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent features and Easy use I bought this less than 6 months ago and have used it frequently. In-feed and out-feed wings were spot on out of the box. I started using this on my work table without any vibration or movement. I had to build a movable stand just for it, as it is very heavy and awkward to move by hand all the time. I am still using the blades that came with it and they are still VERY sharp. The dust ( shavings ) collection works very well as long as it is hooked up to collector of some sort. If not the out-feed director will plug up. If no dust collection, route the back into a trash container. Have been known to face the back through an open door and let fly. Used a different NAME brand of a friend's before getting this and the Dewalt is way smoother finish than his, ( his a lot higher priced ).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great tool 95% happy I bought this planer this past winter to help me make some furniture. I did a lot of research and waited about three months to finnaly save enough money to purchase it. So far I have used it a far amount(mostly on pine 2x4’s). It has worked almost flawlessly, it does have minimal snipe, but I do not plane my boards before I cut them down to size so that’s not an issue. After a few months the rollers did start having issues keeping the boards moving during the cut. I have to clean them pretty frequently but that’s not really a big deal. I definitely recommend using a shop vac hooked up to the dust collection port as it will make quite the mess with out it. I also would recommend having it on a dedicated table with casters bc it’s about 80 lb’s! all in all I would Absolutely buy it again. Anyway I hope this helps
