Bought 2 units about 3 years ago. Works great, never had any issues with either of them. During 2 summers they ran almost 24/7.

A generic, loud, but somewhat effective 8000 BTU
I bought it because it was on sale, hauled it home, tested it and realized it was way too loud for my kid's room at all fan speed, so I returned it the following morning.
This is a generic air conditioner that's sold under many different brand name. So this may be the most popular air conditioner on the market.
Here are some things to consider.
1. It's not quiet. It's loud. I don't believe I could sleep with it on. The noise profile is more imposing than a regular fan at full blast, which sometimes can be attributed as white noise. I would find it loud in my living room as well.
2. It shoots air from the front, not from the top, so the application in your space needs to fit.
3. The hose end is round, without a flat diffuser, so if your window opening is small like in a condo, you may have some issue venting it properly.
I can see some people willing to spend the money to get a new unit with warranty, but I've returned mine and purchased a used one with less noise for less money.

I got this last summer, just before the long weekend! It was awesome at cooling our office which faced the west side of our house and always got stifling hot at the end of a hot day.

Great unit that cools my room well
I recently bought this unit to beat the summer heat, and I am glad that it did. I really like it. It colds my room pretty well. And I got it while the store was having a discount. Very good buy!
*It colds my entire room
*Low Noise on low fan speed setting.
It has a powerful system that is relatively quiet on low, i measured it only 42 decibels. If you are accustomed with a regular fan in your room, the noise is comparable to using your regular room fan on the highest speed. (Which is what i was doing before buying this unit)
*I like how powerful the air conditioner fan is on the low setting. I am a person that cannot sleep without a fan, even in the winter months, i just like constant breeze on my face. With this unit the vents can moveand you can adjust it upwards to reach your bed so even though it is on the ground the breeze u get directly hits you.
*Price point was not bad for 8000 btu's
*Very easy to set up the unit and the hot air venting portion on my window.
*It did not leak, had a bucket there for the drain off just incase, no water yet.
* I did not like the vents to the front of the unit rather than the top. It is more a design con, so some people would not care. But you can still adjust the vent upwards and have no problem with this.
*On high it messures to 47 decibels, which sounds almost twice as high as a regular fan on the highest speed. I had no problem sleeping with this. THIS WASNT A CON FOR ME. But some people might have a problem with this.
47 decibels is also where most dishwashers are in terms of noise so... u can decide for your self.
I STILL GIVE THIS UNIT 5 STARS. Especially for its price point and it's ability to cold a room. Good luck finding a better unit for this price in the summer. I have tried. :)

Summer #3 and it’s not working
First of all I bought this unit at the brick but it’s the same unit, nothing against Lowe’s. Just started using for the third summer and it’s not cooling. Dissapointing to spend $350 and have stop working this soon. We don’t run it very long here in Victoria and i need to go buy another one already.
