Paint Ready Sprayer is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 159.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lacks endurance. I purchased this sprayer to paint a loft and 3 bedrooms. Out of the box it is great. sprays evenly and with no problems. after first use... if you spray for 5-10 min consistently it starts blowing hot air, and dries the paint before it leaves the tip. Refilling the pump is not hard.. but it takes a long time to prime.. so eventually after 1 coat of paint you need to stop for about 1/2hr for it to cool down, if not it will blotch the paint out. Cleaning it is not hard but it is annoying that you have to do it every time you refill the thing. I spent 2hrs trying to spray one wall.. I had to purchase 2 of these.. because the first one stopped spaying. the second one i got fed up with because it would not spray nor prime.. everything is plastic on this machine.. so for $20.00 more i purchased a Graco with a metal spray tip. excellent spray and 10 times easier clean up.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worked good the first day. Had 1700 sq ft of fence to stain. Worked excellent first day. Had to stop just short of being finished due to the wife wanting to grill some kabobs without over-spray getting on them. I did however, flush and clean the equipment as per the Owners Manual. Second day...had about a 10 ft. stretch of fence to finish. Got to the very end and the sprayer started puking out stain from the nozzle even without the trigger depressed. Just pointing the nozzle towards the ground, stain flowed freely from the nozzle. Manual offered some suggestions such as tightening the nut on the nozzle. No help. After that, the manual suggested replacing parts. I think I took reasonable care of this equipment. I should not have to be replacing parts on day 2 of ownership of this. Especially when it only has 1, maybe 2 hours of total spraying time. Maybe a seal is wore out as the manual suggested, but I refer you to the previous two sentence. This is junk.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Reprint after use I purchase this sprayer to paint my kitchen cabinets. Never once did it spray correctly, either the paint doesn't come out, or it sprays it in one huge clump. I ended up having to paint with a roller. HUGE WASTE OF MONEY!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not impressed Good price for the features. I purchased it to stain a small deck and paint a room or two in the house. The deck .was my first priority I wanted to do the the areas next to the house first so I set the controls for the tightest pattern and lowest volume. I did a couple of quick test sprays on to an old piece of plywood to check the spray pattern. I moved to the deck and the first pull of the trigger was great. After that every time I pulled the trigger the thing would start by spitting out several huge globs of stain before spraying the pattern it was set for. Nothing I tried would correct this. That made the sprayer useless. To be honest, I may have done something incorrectly. I find that hard to believe though because I have used many different sprayers over the years so this isn't anything new to me. Also, I did read the manual and follow its instructions for the set up. I have had good luck with Wagner sprayers in the past but this one is going to be returned.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from PaintReady Electric-Powered HVLP paint sprayer I purchased this sprayer to paint all the "gingerbread" (spindles) around the top of my porch, wicker porch furniture and general use. I thought it worked well, it definitely consumes more paint than using a brush but saves time. You need to cover things because there is a lot of overspray. The unit is all plastic which works well for something that needs to be soaked and cleaned a lot. The biggest downside is that it is heavy when filled with paint. This newer design is better balanced than the old vibrater type, but still hard on your arm if painting all day. My wife was able to do her own furniture...that's good

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad product design This might have been a good product except poor selection of material and/or design of nozzle. Bought sprayer about 40 days ago but started to use only about 20 days ago to refinish some furniture. Only used sprayer 5 times, 4 with Bher latex gloss. First time not thinned, next 3 times thinned 1 cup per gallon. The spraying was not acceptable on either vertical or horizontal surfaces. Forth time, while cleaning, noticed a small crack in black nozzle but thought it would not bother the spray. Spraying with Polyurthane, unit was spraying whenever the turbine was activated, in a small stream. A stream of paint was squirting when the turbine was off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well but must be kept clean I work in a factory and we were replacing some ceiling tiles. We wanted black tiles. So we bought this sprayer. It will spray the off the shelf latex flat black pain straight out of the can that we also purchased at Lowe's. Over a couple weeks we sprayed about 10 gallons. only time we had trouble was if it was not 100% clean when we started. We purchased a gallon of goof off at Lowe's to use to clean it. Goof Off works like magic on the dried on paint. I would have given it a 5 star but we dropped it once and broke a part that I had to replace. Maybe I am being a little unfair on that but it did not fall that hard. It was the gun body where it twist locks that broke.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 1 use gun I bought this gun and was very excited to play with the new features since I was moving up from the Control Spray Double Duty. The first use was great. Half way the second project the black spray tip "cracked" and paint started sputtering everywhere. After reading a few forums it seems a lot of people are having this problem. Until a recall is done and the cheap tip is fixed "DO NOT BUY" Yes, i thinned the paint, and yes, i ran it through a strainer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First time user I borrowed a Control Spray from a relative only to find it would not spray latex paint. I searched your website to find one that would. I chose the PaintReady. After reading the reviews I carefully read the instructions, twice. I took the sprayer apart to familiarize myself with it. I had a little trouble with spattering on the first 2 gallons. I ran out of paint and sent the wife after more and while she was gone I cleaned the sprayer. It took me longer to take it apart and clean it than it did to use the first 2 gallons of paint. I chalk that up to inexperience. The next 2 gallons went so smooth it scared me. Again experience helps. I would recommend this product to my friends. It saved me 12 hours at least over rolling.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor design of trigger pivot. Trigger pivot pins pop out of mounting and caused sprayer to not stop. Made a big mess before able to unplug. Returning to store for refund.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Be very careful how you clean and store parts Sprayer works reasonably well, better if you thin latex a little first. My biggest problem with it is storage after cleanup. Generally I'm accustomed to disassembling the air cap and storing them submerged in appropriate solvent (water for latex) until next use. That's how I care for my automotive HVLP paint guns (made out of metal) and the approach works really well. However, as I just found out by surprise - if you use this gun with a solvent/oil based paint, don't try storing the plastic parts in the cup submerged in mineral spirits. The large ring that screws onto the painter body is made out of a material that will react with mineral spirits and will swell (or the white plastic ring will shrink - or both), making it impossible to reassemble the air cap the next time you want to use the gun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for my Students We purchased this as a second unit to paint 50 sheets of 1/2 plywood that were assembled into individual cubicles for our school. Eight high school students were trained by other students to use this gun to paint 15 gallons of paint over a three week class time period. Meaning it was cleaned 15+ times and had 15+ startups. Only one student produced runs with the unit and all the rest were comfortable using it after 15-20 minutes of training. I am impressed as it used latex straight from the bucket and performed excellent with a one application coverage on raw wood. We normally use a primer however the students wanted to try it direct and it worked well. When we need a another gun, we'll buy this one again. The first unit was a Graco with the collapsible paint containers, works well, but very difficult to prime, extreme long clean up time and most students after trying both, loved the Wagner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Be patient, you will succeed! I almost didn't buy this due to some of the negativity. I will say this is my first try at a sprayer vs roller but for larger painting projects, this is the way to go. I did have a learning curve and experiences of what to do/not do but this make painting fun and sprayed consistent. Keys to success: 1) prepping is key and you must take time taping and covering ALL floors and furniture so you don't get paint dust or spray. 2) do whole job at once or at least a large chunk as the paint dries on nozzle and if I stopped too long when I started up again I had issues 3) be patient and be 100% certain nozzle components are on correctly and are tight!!! (I learned) 4) very small hole on paint tube that sucks paint up from canister... Make sure pin hole is not covered in dry paint. Just read over directions, troubleshooting, and you should be good. Don't listen to the negatives, they must have been impatient.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome better than expected First of all I was looking for a Control Sprayer but found out this sprayer is the replacement the Control Sprayer. This was confirm with technical assistance from Wagner. I was also given good advice to use some water first to get use to sprayer and its adjustments. Sprayed a 6 piece wood patio set using Behr solid color stain. No problems at all. This sprayer will paint both stain and latex paint. Clean up a piece of cake took only 15 minutes. Wish there was an attachment so i could have used the gallon can like my previous two older sprayers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like a Boss!!! Works Perfectly out the box! I painted the side of my house on a windy day. This sprayer is freaking awesome. I did thin the latex paint I put though the sprayer. I used 2oz of water per liter of paint and mixed it really well, that ratio worked for me. It gave me even coats, the over spray was surprisingly kept to a minimum. When I finished a ran water through the system twice to clean it. It was actually really easy to clean. This was my first time using a sprayer and I plan on painting the fence next. Frankly I'm looking for more painting projects, too easy. Worth every penny and I feel like I bought a good durable product. Painting like a pro and saving time doing it. I bought this product at Lowe's on Holland, in Va. Bch.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great finiish, but single use product? Like everyone else, the tip cracked within 1 gallon of use. The gun did not fire unthinned latex as I'd hoped, but with some thinning it did a good job. Overspray was higher than I'd expected. I'd only purchased this over the lower cost units because it listed 'unthinned latex' on the box. But it really didn't work until thinned. On the plus side, cleaning was a breeze, it cut time down like crazy, and the texture left behind was far nicer than I'd expected. If I'd known how good the surface finish was, I'd have bought one a long time ago. If it'd last, It'd be absolutely worth every penny. I'd buy a replacement except I'm not convinced it'll last any longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't read into the negative reviews. I bought this sprayer for refinishing my bathroom cabinet doors. I hesitated after reading all the negative reviews. This sprayer worked very well without having to thin my interior latex paint. The first coat went on without any issues. One thing I figured out right away was in order to get the fine finish I needed for cabinets I would have to by the fine finish attachment. I gave the doors a light sanding then sprayed them with the fine finish sprayer and they turned out beautiful. This sprayer alone is designed for jobs that don't require a smooth look like cabinets. It's designed for a more roller like look. So just make sure when you're using this sprayer you use it for the right job. No clogging issues like others have complained about.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better Than Lowes and Wagner Want You To Know Why would I write that? Simple - money. Here's why: I'll get to the sprayer itself in a moment... If you visit the sprayer section at Lowes, there's a big chart behind them with recommended tasks for each. I needed a sprayer to paint my 1,500SqF 1-story stucco home, but I didn't need a $350 outfit to do this one task as the chart recommends. Sure, you can spray for hours with a tube-fed system, but for my needs? - a one time paint job? To be sure, constantly filling the 1-quart container was a daunting prospect. I'd be filling it every 10 minutes or less. And, there's no fast system for filling that container from a 5-gallon bucket either. Solution was a $14 stainless barrel pump from Harbor Freight. It made the job of filling the paint container fast, easy, and with little mess. So, no need for a sweat-equity-killing commercial sprayer. The PaintReady Sprayer did a fantastic job for me. The feed was even, it worked under most angles, and it worked well with Valspar's Ultra Exterior paints (tinted and thinned, as well as plain white and thick). Cleanup was super easy. I also have to laud the fact that I forgot to clean it after a long day's painting. It sat for two days during a rain break, and it still cleaned up easily without the use of extra chemicals. Brilliantly engineered in that respect. For the price, this sprayer was excellent, which is why I gave it the full five stars. But, it wasn't without a couple gripes. Certainly, Wagner builds extra features for extra price. That's fair. I've no real complaints given this sprayer's price point. Just be aware that thicker paints will produce more overspray in windy conditions, and there is no velocity control for the air. That becomes an issue with weak tape edges getting blasted open after becoming wet with paint. Just be sure to dial the flow back a bit before spraying. Once you get used to this gun, you'll love it...enough to come back and write a review!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phenomenal product I spent three calls on Wagner's consumer help line, and they were more than helpful. I got a deal on a small Earlex, which worked on a shadowbox fence, but not on interior walls. I wanted a paint ready system, but bought the gun, because no one had the system for sale. I wanted commercial interior latex to spray undiluted. Right out of the box, one pass, done. I was rolling that surface two and three times to cover. Call Wagner, ask your questions, and you will have success. Guess, shoot from the hip, you won't. 35 years ago or so, I painted an entire Victorian home with one of their first guns, after throwing away a big sprayer. First cleaning on this, fifteen minutes. Second won't be even ten. GREAT product. Great service desk too.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NOT WITH UNTHINNED LATEX AS STATED It says most latex paints will work unthinned. I already had the paint that couldnt be thinned. Two different semigloss paints. I tried both paints and every setting they had. Neither paint sprayed well. It looked like spackle and the tip was clogged in less than 30 seconds. I bought this sprayer because it said it was used for unthinned paint. I would NEVER recommend this for paint right out of the can. I have 3x the work into my trim now as I have to sand and redo every bit of what I tried to get to work. Im not a professional painter, but I am competent and read all directions and watched the videos on it to be sure I was going to get the most out of it. I will go buy oil based paint and do them by hand. It will be going back to the store today! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great & affordable sprayer! This is a great spayer for the price. I had no clue what to look for in a sprayer, so I took a chance on this one. While we planned to paint the inside of the house, I first used it on the exterior. It worked great. Despite having to refill the container, I was done very quickly. Paint was evenly sprayed and looks good - even though I've never used a spayer before. We always disassemble it & clean it as instructed. I did misplace a piece, so I'll have to either search the kids' rooms again or order another part. Regardless, we've been more than satisfied. I highly recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ready to Paint I wanted a paint sprayer that was easy to use with reasonable performance and price. The Wagner PaintReady accomplished all the above. I spray painted the interior doors in my house with un-thinned latex paint. The sprayer worked as advertised. The final product had a slight stipple finish to it, similar to a fine roller, but with the ease of application only available with a spray gun. The set-up was easy, and the clean-up was also fairly straightforward. It takes a little practice to find the proper speed of movement of the sprayer to get good coverage. But the volume of flow is so high that a single coat was possible with a single pass. The red adjustment lever provides for quick adjustment on the spray pattern, allowing a very narrow or wide spray for large or small areas. This product was a pleasure to use and well worth the cost. I highly recommend the use of this product for the cause DIY home painter..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Paint sprayer I bought this spayer mainly because it was on sale. I needed and inexpensive sprayer to complete staining a deck and it performed better than I had expected. I have used these sprayers in the past and they were terrible. Usually only good for one use and then garbage afterwards. Although I haven't used the sprayer again it cleaned up well and the parts fit back together easily. On the down side, it doesn't hold much more than a litre of product. I used stain and found that it would cover about 100 sqft before refilling. If there were an attachment that could be used to spray from the can that would be useful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thrilled I have a stone foundation with some water problems and one of the things I did to correct it was purchase Behr Concrete and Masonry Water Proof Sealant. It is a bit thick, but applied the same way as paint. It was very slow going using a paintbrush, so I decided to try a paint sprayer. A craftsmen I know recommended Wagner. I went to Lowe's and told them what it was for and they were not sure it would work, so I contacted Wagner. Customer Service doubted it would work as the sealant would be too thick compared to paint. I bought it anyway. I tried it and was thrilled that is worked GREAT. This is a great product for painting and sealant needs and absolutely sure it can handle any job very fast. It's well worth the money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I used the sprayer for approx. 30 minutes before it started to clog. I cleared the clog with no problem; except the paint started to back up into the motor housing. Fixed that. I started painting again when the sprayer repeated the same process. This time the paint flowed into the motor. It was time to take it back for a refund!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect Paint Sprayer for the price This paint sprayer has been a workhorse since I bought it. It is easy to clean and sprays exactly as I expect every time I use it. You are able to tilt up or down, and the spray is virtually unaffected with the tilt. It is light enough to hold for lengthy spraying times. This is well worth the money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Three uses and it's junk! It's my third time using, gun heats up while in use, I have a little bit of paint around rim of container now it's impossible to remove the paint container. I would understand if I had let it sit, but it stuck just after use, and very oddly shaped so it's extremely difficult to remove the paint container. Not to mention the spray gun is very sensitive it has to be perfectly cleaned for use for the paint to come out properly, my suggestion go with a different brand of spray gun.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good for the price. I just bought this sprayer yesterday since we are doing a full house remodel. I used it today to spray Valspar Primer in one room. As others have said the tip will drip/spatter when you let off the trigger. However as long as you aim it somewhere other than your project and pull the trigger into the first position (That starts the blower) then aim at your project then fully squeze the trigger it works pretty darn good for a DIY'er. It did spray the Unthinned Primer ok but I will probally thin it down just a little for the next room. Also if you use a sprayer you will have to buy more paint/primer than if you were to roll it on! So remember that when you buy your paint. Overall I would recomend this sprayer to someone, and clean up is very easy on this model.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Works great once. I used this sprayer for one room when I first bought it. I cleaned the sprayer and put it away. It's been sitting for about a year. Well I need it again to paint the rest of my house, now all it does is "SPLATTER" paint on the walls. There is no smooth flow of pain, no matter what I do it will not flow smoothly from the nozzle. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. If you use it once fine, but don't let it sit it wont be the same again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very Dissapointing I had bought this sprayer in the hopes of efficiently painting my new home and rental property. I followed directions and began the painting. I found that the spray pattern wasn't adjusting well and could only get a 3-4inch swath width. I adjusted again with no luck. I checked paint specs and noted it didn't recommend any thinning. After 30 min of spraying I had only covered a small area of wall and it looked streaked. I followed all directions and just found it was to be way faster to just pull out the old roller and get to it. Also after awhile I found the weight to become straining on the arms. I constantly had to switch arms. Going to return this to the store just very disappointed with the results or maybe my expectations were too high either way, looks like I'm going to be rolling my way to the painting finish line which stinks much like my experience with this product.
