I purchased a shower-only valve but when I opened the box, the valve has an outlet for the tub also. Do I just cap that outlet?

Good product, so so instructionsGot this for a shower rebuild as the old control valve was leaking and I couldn't find a replacement cartridge for it. The instructions do not mention not to solder on the lines leading to the valve. I had cut the 1/2 inch copper lines so as to remove the old valve and then after attaching the stub ends to the new valve I soldered new fittings on the pipe to reconnect it. BIG mistake!! The valve inside the new control did not like the heat and would not function properly so I ended up purchasing a replacement valve which did the trick. I should have known better but You MUST remove the valve core if you are going to sweat anywhere on the feed pipes.
This should have been pointed out in the instructions.

Moen Shower Faucet with ValveOnce I got my valve installed and working I am satisfied with my chose of product, however the instructions with the valve were not easy to follow. The installation booklet were not easy or clear to follow and at points during the installation I found myself re-reading and experimenting to find what the instructions were attempting to explain. Overall the installation is not that difficult but there are steps that should be more clear for the weekend plumber like myself. I purchased this item from Lowes and was replacing a faucet that I installed 20 years ago, make it easier for use laymen please.

Simple, Clean, and Easy to Install[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a very straightforward all in one kit. It is very nice that it included the mixing valve with it so you do not have to worry about matching up handles. Everything is pretty straightforward you really do not even need the instructions to install it.
Only challenge I had was that my wall was a little thicker that this thing was set up for. I was able to make it work but the part that the handle connects to is probably a standard size but was almost too short with my set up but I was replacing an existing unit from the 50s so I would still consider this 5 stars since it was able to work.
Could be a 45 minute install if you have everything you need ready to go.

Second tryI installed this in a new house that I replaced all the plumbing before hot water was filled up after turning the water on it only trickled in the bathtub after trying everything I figured I just got a bad valve so I had to take it out for a new one after the second installation the same thing happened so after I installed the hot water heater and filled it up it worked fine so apperantly you need hot and cold supplies on not just cold it must be pressure sensitive would of been nice to mention that in the troubleshooting instructions not just check the supply

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had to replace a 3 handle shower faucet that had no access from the backside. I used a Danco Chrome Deck Plate along with 1 handle faucet. Due to the limited access I had it took me about 5 1/2 hours to replace it. The box stated about 4 hours with access from the back and a 14"x14" access panel. My access was much smaller. I was happy with the outcome and the shower work just fine now.

LeaksBought this for a new shower. Installed and turned on the water. The valve was letting water pass when it was in the off position. Rather than take it all back out, I got another valve stem and put that in. Still lets water past the valve. Sure glad I noticed before I had the tile installed. Bad enough I have to take it out, get another set up and do it all over again without having to replace expensive tile.

Review based on material and designI ordered this assuming it was metal base (not stated on this site but was stated on amazon description). It is ALL lightweight PLASTIC coated in brushed nickle. Super light. Don't know if will hold up well. Fear someone is going to bang into and it's going to snap.
