Mitre Box with Saw is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 76.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from SO THANKFUL! This miter box totally came through for us. All we needed was something to help cut the angles for the trim that goes in our bathroom and this box did the trick. The saw worked quite decently. The pegs helped secure the wood - especially when we stood the trim tall ways, not laying it down. Either way was fine, though. I helped hold the box and wood steady as my husband sawed. We had all the angles cut in no time. Such a perfect solution for DIYers. So thankful to have the ability to cut "professional" angles as amateurs with no headaches! ---Yes, sometimes you cut into the plastic but for the price, this box will work long enough to get our money's worth.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Use it a couple times and throw it away The saw is alright, but the box is cheap. The pegs do a decent job of holding your workpiece still. I bought this to make picture frames and the cuts were perfect 45 degrees. However, the plastic is getting chewed up by the saw. I think this guy can make 3 or 4 picture frames before it will lose accuracy as the slots for the saw will be too damaged. Stanley also has a metal unit for about $50. If you need to make more than a few cuts, I would go with that unit. The price is nice, but cheap plastic will not hold up long (looking back on it, I'm not sure why I even considered this item). You could always move up to a power unit, but they are not always as accurate as the manual boxes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mike is right . . . This little rig is handy and works well for small projects around the house. It allows me to do a better job than the wooden box I used for years. The elliptical pins that you use to hold the work in place are a brilliant idea and they work well. And the saw that came with mine is just fine. No, it's not what a professional cabinet maker would want, but that ought to be obvious. The first thing I did was attach mine to a piece of 1X6 plank about ten inches longer than the box. That added stability and allows me to clamp the whole unit down on top of a B&D Workmate®. When cutting, you just need to be patient and not try and do it in two or three strokes. Anybody who lacks the patience to do that oughtn't to be working on small wood projects anyway. :)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A One Hit Wonder Bought this to make 4 miter cuts in soft pine. My old hard rock maple miter box was pretty much 'sawed out' after 20 years. After making 4 cuts the blade wouldn't have been capable of cutting an old grandmother, if I even had a grandmother at my age...but you get the point. I kept the box, since it might prove useful with a real backsaw, etc., but I'm still debating on maybe using it for target practice. I enjoyed tossing the saw in the dumpster. In fairness, if you have very very minimal needs this might be an OK purchase. If you used it to cut molding and trim or one or more rooms you'd surely lose your mind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For a last minute project, this was great I have a tall slim stained glass window right next to my door that wound up getting a small section of the bottom busted out. I was trying to keep the patch job cheap, so I got some plexiglass cut to fit, and some 1/4 round to put in a temp window behind it. All in all, the fix cost me about $70, including this miter box plus saw. I was going to bite the bullet and buy the skil 10in miter saw that was on sale for $90 when I saw this box instead. All I needed it for was a quick fix and figured if it was useless, I was only out $15. It was a lot more accurate (and far easier) than trying to make the needed 45 degree angle cuts from guess work. plus, I've got one now for quick jobs, kids projects or other small projects. and I don't have to feel bad if it breaks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ok I saw all of the bad reviews and also knew if I wanted a miter saw ...which I can't afford... I was going to have to get this because I didn't have the money for the power saw. So I got it home and started cutting and thought it was a trash. Well I went online and found this youtube video...I've added the link...telling you how to use it. It turns out I wasn't using it right because I didn't realize the saw is a backsaw!!! So when you are cutting it will cut forward but it's more of a back angled motion and you don't have to really apply that much pressure either! I first was cutting with all my strength because I was getting mad. But take a look at the video and remember to push down when you're cutting backwards. If you push hard while cutting forward all you are going to get is mad and a broken tool. The only bad thing I have to say is that I wish it wasn't plastic but in the video the guy tells you to lay a scrap piece of wood in the bottom of the box to prevent cutting into the plastic. He's right the product will last longer :).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Can't beat this for the money when it comes to molding. For those having issues with cutting the plastic. Just put a piece of 2x4 in the bottom, and do your cutting on top of that. This way you don't damage the box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent miter box This is a great product if you are not a carpenter and need just an occasional mitered cut of wood. It even comes with the saw which is the sharpest saw I have ever used! You could even use this at a location not near an outlet- job site, rooftop- to make that final cut. The included spacers hold your wood securely. I have done many a small project with this saw.
