Utility Knife is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Old Stanley Knife I have tried them ALL.......and I keep coming back to this one. If you read most of the reviews on other knives.....they always have the same 2 complaints: 1) the quick change blade is difficult to use and 2) the magazine button gets in the way or opens when you don't want it to. This knife doesnt have either of those problems. Yes......you have to unscrew the knife to change the blade. For me.....the 25 seconds this takes is WELL worth it. Once the blade is in....it is locked in very well. The extra blades in the handle storage are not going anywhere. Not having to worry about the change mechanism, or the magazine, is well worth the time it takes to change the blade. Besides......this knife fits very well in a tool pouch.....and is comfortable and stable in your hand. Thanks Stanley for continuing to make this tried and true version that remains one of the best Stanley values in the store.....and on the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple, rugged go-to tool. I don't know how many of these Stanley utility knives I've owned - and misplaced - since I built my garage workshop in 1972. The last one got scooped up in a home invasion so at least whoever took it off the bench knew quality. I immediately went to Lowe's and got another one. Yes, you have to manually unscrew the two halves to rotate/change the blade, but I actually drove over my old one twice - both wheels on the driver's side - with no damage. This Stanley knife is one tough, well-made, long-lasting, truly utilitarian tool I would never be without.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stanley did it again !! Everytime I visit my local Lowes, I always seem to gravitate to the utility knives in the tools section of the store. I have always admired the design of the Stanley Classic 99 (Model No. 10-099). The handle feels so super smooth in the hand, is not as big or bulky as some others with the blade offering 5 retractable positions. Some very important highlights are: * Smooth handle with a slender profile offering a comfort grip * Extra blade storage inside handle * Screw locking design prevents the blade from popping out during heavy-duty cutting tasks What has always attracted me to this particular design is the minimalist appeal. Other fancy utility knives compete for your attention by offering gee-whiz features such as quick blade change or some fancy way they fold (and that's fine to add to your collection). This knife does not attempt to wow you with that. What this offers is simplicity in itself. I've seen many interesting designs over the decades of my life and love them so much! If I were to summarize this review in just two words it would simply be, "nothing fancy"! Recommended: Highly Rated for everyone (who enjoys the pleasure of such a classic utility knife)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from utility knife This utility knife as been around for a long time, and I tell you, you can't beat it. For the price its worth every penny, its dependable and it lasts through many use. I like this utility knife even more than the sophisticated ones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My husband loves it !!!!! The utility knife worked wonderful for my husband. He cut all the carpet that we bought at Lowes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from still good, however..... I just bought a couple of these at my local Lowes, and I am disappointed to report that while this knife has the same "99e" model number it is not the same as my old Stanley 99e. I could tell right away that is was lighter, and confirmed that the casing is a little thinner than the older one. It is also lacking the "USA" molded on the back of it. And Btw Lowes, Stop asking me for my phone number at the check-out (data-mining). It's very annoying.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Shocked and disappointed I figured a Stanley Utility Knife would be familiar and of top quality. Familiar, yes, but I couldn't make it function at all until I bent the inner parts that hold the blade until they could hold the blade. It took several tries before it would function normally. It works fine now, but you shouldn't have to repair such a simple tool before you can use it.
