Safe'n'Sound Insulation is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 413.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Safe N' Sound is the way to go for Sound Proofing! My boyfriend and I were remodeling the attic space in our 1950s home. The old insulation was gross and we were finishing the attic to be more useful. We did a TON of research to find something that could be used as sound proofing and we had no idea about Roxul. After watching many videos, it appeared to be the easiest thing to install and meet our needs. WE LOVE THE PRODUCT. It is SO MUCH EASIER and less messy than the pink rolled stuff! We knew we had to make a lot of cuts, since our joists were not 16 on center, and the serrated bread knife is the perfect tool. Would totally recommend this to anyone, do not waste your money on another product. For an added R Value, we also used Roxul ComfortBatt and blown in insulation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Insulation for Home and Studio too The first time I tried Roxul (now Rock Wool) was a few years ago to make some sound absorbing panels for my recording studio at home. They turned out better than professional panels at a fraction of the cost. The stone wool was easy to cut with a kitchen knife, and still holds it's shape perfectly after 5 years now. I liked it so much, I asked a contractor to use RockWool last spring when I was getting some work done in my home to help with insulating and sound proofing the walls and ceiling. I will soon be insulating my outdoor garage and I'm looking forward to using ComfortBatt for that project this summer. I probably sound like a commercial, but it does a terrific job and is worth every penny. I highly recommend it, you will not be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OMG! Love this product! We are remodeling our bathroom, took it down to the studs. We just installed Roxul today, we only bought 1 package, we were in a hurry to get home. We can't believe the difference it made in absorbing sound when we installed it. It's amazing. I'm running to the store in the morning to get more to finish the room. I can't tell you how thrilled I am with this product. Our bath is between 2 bedrooms, no more worries about trying to hide noises(hehehe). I am sorry that I did not know about Roxul 8 years ago when we finished the basement. I am almost ready to rip out the drywall in the basement and add Roxul. Don't have any doubts about installing it, just do it!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Night and Day difference in sound and temperature I have used Safe 'n' Sound both in-wall and for sound absorption panels to mount on walls. It is amazing in both scenarios and there really isn't a product out there that works quite as well as Roxul/Rockwool's. You don't need insulation supports to hold it between studs since the tolerance is so dead-on. Fits snug every time. I always take a second look at the rolls of Corning fiberglass, but end up telling myself, just wait and save a few more bucks, then go with the Roxul.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best stuff ever! I built a suite for myself and daughter in the basement of my house so we could rent out the upper rooms to supplement income. Before the renovation the sound transmission from the upper floor was totally unacceptable. You could practically hear a mouse break wind, and a person walking above you sounded like a drum. I insulated the ceilings and the walls. After the renovation I knew it was quieter but I didn't realize how effective it was until I knocked on my daughter's door to ask her a question. I could tell that there was music playing, but when she opened the door I couldn't believe how loud it was! having this first-hand experience, I wouldn't use anything else. Ever. -Karen

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Roxul saved me I can't begin to say how much I love this product. I recently found out that I have meniere's disease. It's a disease that affects the inner ear. I've become extremely sensitive to loud sounds which made me leave my career as a red seal Carpenter. With 4 kids running around the house I found it difficult to find a quiet spot when the noise became too much for me to handle. I tore my bedroom walls open and filled it with roxul and now I can finally get some peace when I need it. Thank you roxul

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I wouldn't even consider building a house without it. While my contractor was building the house, I told him that I would come in each day (after work) and install Roxull in every wall in the house. Big reason was that we built an open concept home and I was concerned about sound but with Roxull and safe and sound doors every room in the house is pretty much sound proof and fire retardant. I tell my wife (jokingly) that if she smells smoke in the middle of the night she can sleep a little longer. It cost me about $500. dollars to do the entire interior of the house, best money I spent. Contractor was contracted to do the exterior.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Positive experience I had to rebuild the ceiling of my kitchen for unrelated reasons. Above my kitchen is a bathroom. I decided that for privacy's sake, I'd insulate the space in the ceiling between the rooms. It worked great! I can hear the shower from the kitchen, but it's *much* fainter. I'd worked with the ComfortBatt before, and expected great things from the SafeNSound. I was mostly pleased, but the batch I got, at least, was a little "looser" than I was expecting. It still held itself in place between the joists, but only just barely. Still, it all worked out, and I didn't need to wire it in before closing up the ceiling, so I'm calling it a win. Stone wool is still my favorite insulation product to work with!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wish this had been available earlier We had to remove our floors (1st floor with a basement beneath) down to the joists. They were never insulated and they were not solid. We laid the Safe'n'Sound in between the joists and could tell a difference in the echo in the room immediately....even before we put furniture back in. My daughter's room was very cold as well because of the corner it's on. This has made a huge difference already. Her room is much cozier. I wish this had been available when we did the public rooms of the house a few years ago. Our bedroom is directly above the electric panel so the fact that this is fire resistant gives me a extra measure of safety. Anytime you can gain a few seconds to get out of a house it may save your life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Make your DIY easy As a female using this for my first DIY basement development, I was quite nervous. This product was extremely easy to work with and made me feel quite confident in completing my insulation job! The prices were affordable, which added peace of mind when it comes to the budget of this home project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I used Roxul Comfort Batts to insulate a crawlspace. Friction fit (in between 2X6 floor joists) is perfect--stays put with no wires or other supports. Uniformity of size and stiffness of each batt (compared to fiberglass batts) allow for sharp corners, and elimination of gaps. Sound absorption is excellent. Exceeds fire code requirements. I also installed 1/2 foil-faced polyiso foam boards to the bottom of the joists in the crawlspace (covering the roxul), and then taped the joints. Lots of work to do the whole crawlspace (approximate 1,500 sf), but immediate and significant difference apparent inside--warmer floors, no echoing of footsteps, and the spin cycle on the washer in the laundry room--which used to vibrate/resonate through the whole house--is completely gone. I also did a research project recently, and discovered how the fact that we focus on "r-value" (ignoring air flow) and the use of fiberglass (ignoring rock wool) are due more to marketing than insulating performance properties. If you look at Europe, which was not subjected to marketing onslaught of US manufacturers, you find much more common usage of rock-wool, as opposed to fiberglass. I expect we will see a slow but steady surge in the adoption of rockwool over fiberglass here in the US. The product (at least not in the retail locations where I have to buy it as a non-contractor) is not cheap, but I think it's worth it. Easy 5 stars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product does what is says I used Roxul Safe and Sound in our basement walls and ceiling to give our new basement nice and quiet walls. We hardly hear anything from upstairs and that is the way we like it. A good product all around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great insulation! Used this to acoustically insulate bedroom walls in a home I am renovating. Roxul is superior to fiberglass in every way possible, mold, fire, heat, sound, rodents and insects hate it, easier to cut, less harsh and itchy to work with, doesn't sag after time like fiberglass always does. Have pulled out too much moldy and sunk in stud bay fiberglass insulation to want to go back to the pink stuff ever again. Tip: purchase a a cheap electric carving knife and that makes cutting the roxul even easier than sawing at it with a serrated breadknife.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from such a difference! I own a duplex, and the shared wall noise was awful! I could clearly hear what my neighbor was watching on TV. Installed this and its barely a muffle. Friends visit and can't believe the difference. I did the 1st floor living room wall, and you would think the neighbor wasn't home. But in the 2nd floor hallway (same wall) you can hear everything on her side clearly. People are amazed what a difference it makes!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly the product we wanted and needed! We are renovating a 110-year-old stone carriage house. Rockwool has been our salvation for many reasons: exceptional thermal efficiency, super sound blocking, and mice hate it! Easy to install. We wrapped our new enameled steel tub with Rockwool for added insulation; my love of hot baths appreciates the extra 30 minutes I can spend reading in my tub before bed! And best of all, it has a low carbon footprint. Everything to gain when we opted for Rockwool instead of the irritating pink fluff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Safe n Sound for the darkroom. I lined the ceiling and walls to a home darkroom. Super quiet. Years later , I dismantled the room and was able to reuse the product by sticking it in the ceiling. It held its shape and fit into the basement ceiling

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes your house sound like a mansion This stuff is amazing, every wall in your house should have plenty of this in them. You will be amazed at how quiet your home becomes, just like the very finest homes in the world!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really deadens sound! We used this excellent product to insulate our media room / music room and soundproof it too. Wow! It really deadens the sound ! Now we can play our guitars and drums and sing as loud as we want as late as we want and not disturb anyone. Also, if I want to go to bed earlier, my husband and his friends can be as loud as they want and I can still sleep soundly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good and Bad Easy to install - because batts are shorter - and easy to cut. It stays in the ceiling without support. The air in the Roxul space does not echo, that's probably the source of the "soundproofing" claim. This does not stop other noise from coming in. I cannot speak to its waterproofing or fire resistant claims. I neither soaked it or burned it. lol
Date published: 2016-09-25
Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best product for noise reduction and firewall What to say, is easy to work, almost no dust or fibers in the air, even when installed in the ceiling
Date published: 2018-07-08
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install and effective. Like all of the Roxul products, Safe n Sound is easy to use, easy to install, and effective. It's stiffer than alternative batts and, with the right tools, easier to work with. Get a good knife, like a Hultafors, and it cuts like butter. That means accurate dimensions and high quality fit in stud bays. Much easier to get a level 3 install than with other products I've worked with. You should still wear long sleeves and appropriate protective equipment but otherwise the product is easy to handle and has few downsides.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is an excellent product I placed the product in our home as the contractor was finishing the framing and before the sheet rock went up. The house began to be quieter as each wall was completed with the Roxul. I believe this will make our house quieter and safer from fires because of the thickness of the Roxul Safe and Sound product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Product That Really Works My husband I recently renovated our laundry room. We were looking for insulation that was easy to use. Safe'n'Sound was that product. It was easy to cut without all the itchiness of fiberglass insulation. I have noticed that it really helps to cut down on the noise of our washer and dryer. Furthermore, I like that it is fire resistant in case of any electrical issues down the road. It is also water and moisture resistant so if there are any plumbing issues that may arise, the insulation will not be comprised.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Muffle the noise from the other room I am a convert. My builder buddy told me about this product 6 years ago. I haven't used fiberglass since. Because it supports its weight, the work needed to secure it is drastically reduced. I've even installed it horizontally without sag. This stuff is amazing.
Date published: 2018-03-12
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Glad we did Peace of mind with respect to fire resistance. Very happy to find a product that helps absorb sound. I found it a little challenging to install since the weight of the batts tended to cause the product to slip down from between the joists - glad I had strapping!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So much better than fiberglass! I am a musician who wants to use my home to record music. After researching soundproofing options, the sound proofing qualities of Roxul Safe'n'Sound seemed like the way to go. I was already in the middle of a home renovation, so while I had drywall ripped out and walls opened up, I decided to fill interior wall spaces between certain rooms with the Safe'n'Sound. It was so easy to use; much easier than fiberglass batts. I love that I can use a serrated bread knife to slice through these Roxul batts with ease. They really do reduce sound waves traveling between rooms. As a really amazing bonus, I love the fact that these can stand up to extremely high amounts of heat. This gives me much more peace of mind, knowing they would hopefully buy me more time in the event I ever have a house fire.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would recommend and buy this product time and time again I m renovating my home and I was looking for an insulation product that would be just perfect for my new renovations. I had researched many insulation products but, found Roxul was the only one that would work for sound, resist fire and water, was durable and easy to handle. I have since recommended this name brand and products to many who were in home renovations. The price is convenient and I am 150% satisfied consumer. Roxul, you have the better insulation above all within the market!!!!!!
