Castable refractory cement 3 lb is rated

I bought a few containers of this not knowing the quality after reading the previous review.
It turns out it works perfectly if you "actually" fallow the directions on the container.
This refractory cement isn't like regular cement it isn't runny or wet, it is made to be castable (moldable) so you can shape it without needing buy or make a form or mold.
I would recomend using a little larger container than what it comes in to make it easier to mix compleatly

too much aggregate, poor instructions.
I bought two tubs of this refractory cement to fuse firebricks together and I was very disappointed. The instructions called for 143ml (oddly specific) for every 3lb tub.
After adding the water I noticed the cement was still dry. So I added a little more water and it become too much. So I added the other tub and tried to dial in the appropriate ratio myself.
Only a few bricks managed to fuse. The majority just fell apart. The cement wouldn't stick to a brick at all. The amount of aggregate was way too thick as well.
Needless to say I was disappointed. Do not use this stuff to mortar bricks together. The aggregate is too big and it has really poor slump.

This works Perfectly, like the other reviewer said just follow the directions and everything should work out fine.
Its not oddly specific like the first reviewer said its the perfect amount, its specific for a very good reason. The aggregate is a good size as you can see i got a nice clean smooth surface.
I used 4 containers of these to make my 3.7L paint Can Forge, it has a 4" hole and about a 1.5"-1.75" thick base and 1.25"-1.5" walls. this can be used as a forge(on its side) or a foundry with a crucible( standing like in picture)
If you are using a single propane torch you may want to make a smaller main opening maybe 3"
I was originally going to use a propane torch connected to BBQ tank, but I don't think it will get it hot enough after I fired it for the first time, so I'm going to try a weed burner with a 25mm end on the BBQ tank that should put out alot more heat.
