A few cents worth of parts not included. Why?
As others have noted, a 1/4" brass sleeve (nut) and ferrule are NOT included in the package. Another trip was needed to get these. Using these would constitute the most common installation method. And it's not noted on the packaging. This is short-sighted and petty.
Additionally, because InSinkErator has little competition in this area, their warranty for this is just one year. Their disposers, as far as I can tell, have much longer warranties.
Otherwise, installation is straightforward and relatively simple. The counter here was so thick that the plastic spacer was not required. And it's not InSinkErator's fault that it can be cramped under the sink!

Great idea, but...
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The water tank works great but the dispenser is a piece of cheep garbage. Why any one would pair these two up is beyond belief. After 3 months the dispenser button started sticking so a contacted support. They said they would send someone out but if they couldn’t find an issue, it would cost me the service call fee ($100). Since this was only seen 30% of the time and not wanting to dump another $100 into it, I didn’t pursue it. Well now at just over a year it is happening 100% of the time and you have to mess with it for a few minutes to get it unstuck. Warranty is out now so I am stuck. Unplugged it and now it just sits there...

Design Defect - Stuck Button
We had our previous insinkerator for 12 years. It had a nickel finish and handle activator. Eventually the tank need replacing so I bought this unit. I had it professionally installed. From the first week we had issues with the button sticking. It continues to do this almost daily and if left unchecked will quickly drain our RO tank dry. To un-stick we have to wedge a butter knife against the edge of the button and try to pry it up. As an engineer I'm shocked that this ever left the prototype stage. It could probably be solved with a stronger spring and better sealing system around the button. Or a handle!!! So now we have a nice looking but un-useable insta hot. If that's what you want go for it.

Much Improved product
I was not too excited about having to replace another of the old style instant hot water heater. When I found out they were no longer available and that the least expensive of the new style was about $100 more I was even less excited. However this is a much improved product in many ways. Time will tell how long it will last but it produces a lot more hot water and the design seems to allow for expansion which I suspect was the reason the old style attached tank would fail so quickly. My only complaint is that the top tube does not swivel so it doesn't appear you can switch the button to the other side or swivel out of the way. Maybe it does but I didn't want to break it by trying.

Good product with one exception
This is my second InSinkErator hot water dispenser. This one has a push button to operate, rather than the twist handle it replaced. It was easy to install and delivered a good supply of hot water. After a month or so the push button began to stick, and I had to resort to hitting button with some object to get it to turn off. Somehow InSinkErator heard of the issue and sent me a replacement dispenser - great customer service. Within a couple of months the replacement unit has begun to stick as well. WD 40 helps for awhile, but as soon as I can afford it, I will find a replacement unit with something other than a push button.

Poorly built
In less than a year it has broken 3 times. The good news is it was under warranty and it was replaced. The bad news is that each time the new broke the exact same way. It is not a fluke - it is a cheap piece of "equipment"!

Works great, very convenient but with caveats
This is our second unit, it seems like they used to have a 3 or 5 year warranty. Anyways, these units are great and very convenient. Once you have one, you'll wonder how you did without it. They work great, no issues typically.
Now for the downside, 5 years is about their maximum lifespan so plan on it. We had one when we built the house, it was replaced under warranty after about 2.5 years then a month ago (Feb 2016) that unit failed after 5 years. After some research, it appears 5 years is about their lifespan. When they fail, they begin leaking which I consider a design defect. The leaking occurs inside the housing, not the connections. Look on Youtube for some videos.

Love the instant hot
We previously had an insinkerstor instant hot that lasted 8 years (may have gone longer .... the faucet didn’t match the new kitchen, so bought a new one for the kitchen remodel). We replaced it with the 150 series. Looks beautiful and worked flawlessly ... for 2 months. Then, all of a sudden, cold water. We contacted insinkerstor and within days, they sent us a new tank ... the 100 model ... we didn’t need to replace our faucet. Original install was done by our kitchen contractor. Replacing the tank took my husband all but 5 minutes. Works flawlessly & we look forward to many more years of use. Thanks insinkerator for standing behind your products!
