is the self propelled speed adjustable?

Asked by: Andy43
It is but even at the turtle setting it's pretty quick. However, the machine is so light I find I don't need it except for hills

just bought a greenworks 80 V cordless self propelled lawn mower ,soon as I instul just bought a green works 80V self propelled lawn mower, soon as I put the battery in it starts running without me starting it and the blade does not turn

Asked by: Anonymous
Hello Hollyhopper, We're sorry for your troubles. Please be advised the unit does come with two levers. One to move the unit which is the self-propelled lever and one to engage the start of the unit. If the self-propelled lever is engaged the unit will propel forward. However, it should not start without you engaging the lever. This is something we would like to discuss with you in more detail as this is not a normal occurrence. To start the unit, you must first push and hold onto the safety button then lift up the bail lever (start lever). Make sure you're not lifting up the self-propelled lever when you do this. Please contact us at 1-888-909-6757 or by email to info@greenworkstools.com for further assistance.

What is this machine like with long damp grass

Asked by: The maniac
Hello The maniac, This unit works best when grass is in optimal conditions. The grass should be kept under 4" in height and mowed when dry and not too wet. When grass is longer make sure to only mow 1/3 of the length of grass at a time and move the height adjustment to the highest setting. We hope this information has helped.

Asked by: Jane3
It comes with a charger, not sure the cost and it only has a slot for 1 battery.

  • QUESTIONS, PRODUCT
Self-Propelled Cordless Lawn Mower - 21" - 80 V is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not work out of the box Purchased 5/18, curbside pick up on 5/19. Assembled 5/19 (simple, 2 bolts). Charged battery 5/19. Installed battery 5/20, mower blade operates. "Self Propel" does not work. If I engage the Self Propell lever and pull a little on the cable it will engage. Poor assembly and quality control at Greenworks. It is on Clearance, but my expectation is that it is operational. I would question the quality of any Greenworks product prior to purchasing again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Battery lasts longer than anticipated. I bought this mower a month ago, and at the first opportunity used to cut the front lawn. Unlike my gas mower the mulcher attachment leaves no clumps of grass, instead its makes a nice clean trim. The 80V unit is strong enough to cut, mulch high grass and trim the occasional tree root; it is a powerful machine and a good price. I just wish the 80V trimmer would be available at any store including Greenworks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Happy with purchase BUT.... Purchased the Greenworks Pro 80 volt self propelled a couple weeks ago. Very pleased with performance so far in both cutting, battery life, overall quality of build and ease of use. Definitely love it more than my outgoing gas mower of 25 years. Mulches easily, without leaving clumps of cuttings behind under normal conditions. Automatically senses a heavy load condition (thicker, longer, damp) and speeds up motor for better cut, impressive! Have been able to cut normal sized city lot twice so far on single charge with only one bar or three consumed. Estimate three or four cuts on single charge with out self propelled feature in use. My only concern like others, is the self propelled function doesn't work out of the box. The cable is not properly tensioned from factory when handle is fully applied, this allows drive to engage, and don't see a way to adjust? Would have given a higher rating if not for this defect. Will be contacting Greenworks for what next steps are to resolve drive issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much better than gas mowers I have cut my lawn a couple of times now and can say that I prefer the Greenworks mower 100% more than my Husqvarna self propelled. I have a large suburban lot and the first time I cut it with the Greenworks 80v I had one strip left before the battery gave out. The lawn was overgrown though due to the gas mower dying the previous week. The second time I cut the lawn, the battery lasted front and back with one bar on the battery indicator. Likes: -Mulching is much much better than my Husqvarna. -Self propelled feature is better than my gas mower. The speed selector is infinately selectable so its easy to pick the pace you want -the battery charges fairly quickly - manuverability is better because the Greenworks seems about half as heavy as my gas mower

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good choice I have made It is not as silent as I have expected but it does its jobs very well. Two-runs so far. One when the grass was 4/5 inch long and the second time grass was almost 1 feet long. First run was very smooth, 2 bars out of 3 bars of the Battery charge remained. During the 2nd run when grass was 1 feet long, battery charge finished in the half way as the motor was drawing more power but it did the job very nicely. It takes less 2 hours to charge the battery full. Overall satisfied with purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So smooth and quiet First impression: Bought this 80V self propelled today, set it up and cut 3/4 of my lawn...amazing how smooth and quiet the motor runs. Note that it has a slow start both for the motor and drive wheels, but that is fine....also thought it would propel faster on its high speed, but that is also ok because you don't want to run behind it. The wife did not even know I was mowing the lawn, my shop vac make more noise. Really impressed with this machine. Also, it has a metal deck and all metal handles, not overrun with plastics. Also I like the big wheels.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from LAWN MOWER WAS USED I purchased a mower on line. Picked it up at the store and took it home. I changed my mind and returned the mower, unopened. When I returned the mower, they opened the box and the mower had been used. I couldn't believe it. Thankfully they did give me my money back, which I thank them. Open your box before you leave the store if you buy a mower.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quiet, easy and works well Got this unit 2 weeks ago. I have a 80x150 property of which about 50% is pretty decent lawn that I have been maintaining for the last 15 years with a Toro 4.5HP push mower, which still works well despite my lazy maintenace habits. The grass is fairly thick with very few weeds but there are some shady areas where the grass isn't a little thinner than a full sun lawn. The Greenworks easily does the whole yard with lots of battery left (more than 1/3 remaining every time, once in a while 2/3 remaining) on the 4AH battery which charges very quickly. The only drawback for a lot this size is that the if the grass isn't thick, wet or overly long the mower always stays in low power mode for battery preservation, which likely isn't necessary for my lawn area, and it doesn't always generate enough lift for the odd section of longer shade grass that might be lying a little bit flat. Therefore the one option I'd like to see would be some way to defeat the 'automatic' power management so it wasn't so automatic and could provide maximum lift at all times or on manual demand. That said, the overall cut is still flat and the 'lying down' areas aren't really noticeable unless you're looking for it. Otherwise this machine does a very good, easy, consistent cut with a lot less sweat and effort. Overall a good purchase that my neighbors will like as much as I do. As for likely longevity, my Toro being a manual push mower the comparison isn't apples to apples in that regard so 15 years might be a bit of an ask. We'll see.
