The description indicates each shelf has a weight capacity of 50lbs. Is this accurate because for the same cabinet at a competitor (different brand same look) their cabinets have a 300 lbs / shelf capacity.
Each shelf is held in with 4 small bolts. They likely support more than 50 pounds, but I wouldn't load them with 300.

What tools are required for assembly. We are moving and will need to take what tools are necessary with us.
According to the manufacturer's assembly/installation instructions, you'll need a 1/2" wrench, 3/8" wrench, Phillips screwdriver and a level. When I assemble these, I always keep bring an SAE socket set and cordless impact with Phillips bits (I think these use #2 or #3 Phillips bits). Makes the job much easier and quicker.

The product description and customer reviews do not definitively speak to the quality of the locking system and overall security. Would this cabinet be difficult to break into?

Great Basement Storage
We needed a good lockable cabinet for a food pantry. We ordered it online and picked up in store the same day! This cabinet was fairly easy to assemble for 2 people. It was packed well in the box. My husband read the directions while I assisted. Some of the directions seemed a little out of order in my opinion but otherwise easy to read and follow. It took us about 1.5hrs to complete. It's quite sturdy for what we intend and it would be good in the garage as well. The only flaw was the little screws that are to be added to the back slats did not stay in place but I don't find them necessary for the medium-light weight use I'm using it for.

Flimsy cabinet
I purchased this cabinet for my garage. After assembling the cabinet and then standing the cabinet in an upright position as the directions stated, I noticed the sides were warped. Difficulty in putting the tiny screws into the nut to attach the shelves. Luckily, I had my own screws that were longer so used those. Then while attaching the doors, I noticed the doors were warped. The welding at the top of the right door seem detached from the door. The doors won't close properly and I have to lift the door from the bottom to close the door. And since the doors are warped the lock doesn't work. What a waste of money!

Excellent storage for weaving, fabric, and crafts
I have a lot of thread and yarn on spools, huge cones, and in balls that I store in my Gladiator cabinet in our garage, We did not have room indoor for all of it and my husband has Gladiator throughout his garage, so he got me the 48" wide cabinet that matches his stuff. I have had NO bugs or critters get into it and my stash has stayed nice and fresh. I would reccomend two people put it together, but other than that it was not too bad to assemble. Now if I can just get him to NOT park his riding mower in front of it!!!

Dented panels and doors
Just purchased 3 of the 48" wide Gladiator cabinets and found that some panels (in all 3 boxes) were dented (sides, back and even doors). Had to avoid hassle to return (heavy items, over 150lbs ea) and made them work, the powder coated finish can camouflage some areas but dents on the front door is totally unacceptable.
Very poor packaging, there were no foam material inside box and only supported by thin card boards. Very disappointed on this >$1k purchase.
Should have went to Home Depot who has the same product at a lower price (ship to store pickup).

Makes my garage pop!!!
These were incredibly easy to assemble and they look great! Able to configure the shelves in enough different spots to be versatile enough for all our storage needs. These along with the other Gladiator products we bought have transformed our garage from plain to awesome!!!

Great product but very disappointed with price.
I looked at a lot of metal cabinets and did some research on each. I do not think that you can find a better quality cabinet on the market today. However, I should have researched a little more. I purchase a jumbo cabinet, a work cabinet and two 48" shelves for the front of the garage. Then while I was debating which cabinets I wanted for the side walls I decided to go the the gladiator site to see my options. There I discovered that I could have ordered from Gladiator direct and I could have received the same cabinet (jumbo) assembled for over a hundred dollars less than what I paid at my local Lowe's. The other gladiator items were also very much reduced from what I paid.
Now I understand that Lowe's is entitled to a mark up but over 30%,,,,,,really?
I will continue to patronize Lowe's as I love the store but. I will be ordering my remaining cabinets direct.

Overall, happy with it
I like my new cabinet, but there are a few things others may want to know.
Some of the screws did not fit the back panel. They were loose and I could pull them out without even twisting. To remedy this and make assembly easier, you may want to add a few more screws and nuts to your shopping list. I needed: ten 10-32x machine screws and hex nuts plus twelve 6-32x machine screws and hex nuts. All of the additional screws I bought were 5/8". The smaller screws were for the middle of the back panel and the bigger screws were for attaching the back panel to the side panels. Since my cabinet is not up against the wall and visible on three sides, I used a black marker to color the screws so they matched the other ones. Just wanted it to look nice!
The assembly was not difficult once I bought the additional screws and nuts. I put it together with my five year old twins. Lifting it off the garage floor by myself was difficult, but not impossible.
Also, the lock does not work. Even when locked, the doors open right up.
One last thing, the Gladiator caster set is not compatible with the Extra large cabinet- even though the sign at Lowe's listed them.

Good product, poor service
I went to Lowe's to see the product and as expected it was well built. So from that end, I got what I paid for.
The problems were: 1) Lowe's finally delivered the product almost 2 weeks later than promised. 2) Both cabinets were damaged in shipment. (I ordered 2.) They weren't damaged beyond use, but it took me almost as long to deal with dents, etc. as it took me to assemble them. I didn't want to deal with a return so I dealt with it.
Now that they're put together they work as advertised. My final suggestion is to wait for them to go on sale. I saved $100 each by being patient.
