GE Profile Induction Cooktop with Bridge Element - 30" - Black SS is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 442.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Makes fairly loud humming noise We like the stove. It is more efficient than the typical electric stove and easier to clean and maintain than the gas stove. These were the reasons we got the stove. But, we were surprised by how loud the humming noise was when the stove is used. Our pots are pretty good, quite heavy and have a really flat bottom, but still the noise is quite noticeable. On balance I think we made the right choice and the noise is a trade off compared to the work involved in cleaning a gas stove. But, buyers should know that induction stoves make a humming noise due to the very nature of the technology. We were taken by surprise. Most reviews don't mention it and the product listing does not mention it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Value for Induction! I won't cook with anything but induction. It is far superior to electric and, in may ways, gas. I was so happy to have an induction stove put into our recently purchased home. we put this on in which was quite a bit less expensive than the induction stove in our previous home. Although it lacks a couple of the higher-end features, I don't miss them. it is a powerful and intuitive stove. It is far more forgiving on the pot/pan size than my last stove which makes it more versatile for me.I'm so happy to have an induction stove again and this stove delivered everything I love about induction for a lot less than others. GREAT VALUE!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Have been using mine for over two years and am loving it. Kept old cooktop, still working, will replace it and take new one with me if I ever sell my house. Won't use anything else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality all the way What more is there to say is that..."She loves it". We had a GE Gas Cooktop in the home we just bought. The home was built in 2006 with all GE appliances. No problems with any of the appliances. The only drawback to the cooktop stove ...it was gas. We moved from a house with Induction. And the person who does all the cooking ...and cooks very well I may say, was getting frustrated controlling the flame. I am now her "cooktop hero" by purchasing the GE Profile 30 inch Induction Cooktop. There is a dramatic improvement in performance from the brand we had in the old home. The best thing it truly a drop-in replacement profile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality at affordable price This is my first induction cooktop and I was uncertain how I would like it. I had been accustomed to an electric cooktop/ with grill and other interchangeable cartridges. Now about 6 mos in, I love the induction cooktop. I have found adjusting tonthe differences easy. I actually now would not want to go back to electric. The instantaneous response is incredible, the top cleans easily and I enjoy making firmernrecipes on this new cooktop. Additionally the extra space for pans with various size capabilities has given me more burners and I like the sync burner feature. I would highly recommend this cooktop to others

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great look, awesome performance We have been using the cooktop for roughly four months. Our previous home we had gas and were concerned with our new homes electric cooktop. We remodeled the kitchen and installed the induction cooktop. The top looks awesome with our granite counter. More importantly, its operation is very similar to gas in times to heat/cook. There is a slight "hum" while cooking from the induction process, we like it, it provides an audible coupled with the red visual indicators when the top is on. Love the feature that once the pan/pot is removed from the burner, the controls automatically power off the burner circuit. The product hit all three keys for us; the visual appeal, the efficient operation and the safety features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOOKS AND FEELS AMAZING!! (+helpful sidenote) I used to always watch Doraemon when I was young and drool over their futuristic appliances. Then I visited my friend's kitchen and drooled over their luxurious stovetop. Dream no more because now I got my own, out-of-this-world stove and it's backed by physics, not cartoons! I absolutetly adore it, and the kitchen is now my favorite place in my home. I am amazed at the quality that GE offers and the brand will always have a special place in my gadget-and-food-loving heart. On a sidenote, my original cooktop cutout was too wide so I will be specially custom ordering an extra trim to support the new cooktop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never going back to electric of gas This is our first induction cooktop and it won't be our last. I had read that it takes some getting used to in terms of heat adjustment and such. Never had a learning curve or a problem cooking with it. We have both cast iron and stainless steel cook ware. It heats up the cast iron almost instantly. My wife's stainless steel pots and pans that she has had for about a decade didn't end up working with it, but we found some great ones at goodwill. I actually like the size, and don't think I'd get a bigger one, I mean how often do you need that many more burners.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the Speed & Control We recently bought a new house that had a GE conventional "resistance" Electric cook top. I have always hated electric cook tops, and we considered replacing it with a gas range. But after some research & many positive reviews we decided to give Induction a try. Well, we love it. The speed that it heat the pans and the instant control of the heat are amazing ! I have always loved gas, but it can't beat Induction for the speed and control. It is also very easy to clean since the cook top surface only receives heat from the bottoms of the pans, and dose not cook on the spills like a regular electric cook top. Spent years watching my Grandmother & mother scrubbing their electric cook tops after the dishes, not the case with induction !

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My wife loves induction cooking! I have had it about a year and it works exactly as intended. I dinged it a little because the heating elements are a little bunched up and you have to have the right size cookware for each element. We just don't use the big one very much because it requires such a big pan and not that the kids have left we don't cook such large quantities of food. I really wish that it could adapt to a smaller pan. In general the cooktop seems more crowded than the traditional one that we took out. This probably is a rare problem but the cooktop doesn't quite cover all of the cutout from the old cooktop, I wish that it had been just a little bit bigger. As for cooking, it is fantastic. A lot of reviews talk about how quickly it heats water and it does that well but what we enjoy even more is the control you get for simmering foods. This will go much lower and more precisely than the old traditional cooktop and you can leave a pot on for hours without burning it. One of the great things about induction cooking is that it does not lose much heat. You really don't get hot cooking at this stove, very pleasant. Also, since the top itself does not get very hot food does not get cooked on. When you combine that with the smooth glass top cleanup is super easy. That cooktop stays so cool that I have cooked before with a paper towel between the cooktop and the pan without even discoloring the paper. This was mostly just to see just how (not) hot it gets but if you are doing some messy sauces it makes cleanup a breeze. I also feel much safer around this cooktop after the pans are removed without so much heat still in the cooktop. When I bought the cooktop I also purchased new induction compatible non-stick cookware and non-metallic spatulas, spoons, ladles etc. The combination is working great! We have very easy cleanup and the pans are working out well. We can still use about half of the stainless cookware that we already had. That is the portion that a magnet would stick too from mixed pots and pans that we had randomly collected so your results may vary but it is very easy to check your cookware with a magnet in advance. I also bought a set of assorted sizes of magnetic stainless steel plates that you put on the element to make it act like a conventional burner just is case we came up with something unique and non-magnetic that we really wanted to heat up. Those have been used occasionally and were not expensive. I have seen some concerns about the fact that the stove can require 42 amp service and many people only have 40 amp breakers and wire. I am in that boat but it only draws 42 amps with every burner on max power and we have never even thought about doing that so we are not having any issues. I don't expect to ever go back to a non-induction cooktop after experiencing one. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rapid Cooking Bought this product about 3 months ago, so having used it a while I am comfortable sharing my views now. So far it has worked very well to quickly heat food and liquids.I love the smooth gleaming surface, uninterrupted by knobs or other protrusions. I love that from a safety perspective, the bare surface is not warm to the touch when it's on. My criticisms are that it is easy to accidentally touch the controls to activate the cooktop, and although there is a "lock" button to prevent this, I don't always remember to set it when I am finished cooking. Fortunately, heat is only produced within the cooking pot/pan when someone is likely to be paying attention. The other minor concern -- I needed to buy a new set of cookware that could be used here, as my aluminum products will not work. An extra expense, yes -- but the cost of this product would suggest that the consumer is less price sensitive to such an extra expense. My final concern is that it seems this cooking technology is fairly "new" as far as how long it's been in existence compared to traditional gas and electric cooktops, so I would have felt much more comfortable making this purchase if the product came with a manufacturers original warranty beyond the typical 1-year period. Of course I realize that extended warranty's are available, but a longer original warranty would provide a stronger endorsement by the manufacturer that this technology is durable. If you believe in the longevity of your new technology, you should provide a tangible showing that you will stand behind it for more than a year.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great, but there is a learning curve! If you have never used an induction or even a ceramic stove top there a a few things to be prepared for. First, instant cooking is great, but you gotta have magnetic cookware. If a magnet won't stick, it won't work! Also be careful that you don't initially burn food. It is very easy to set the "burner" too high. Also, moisture on the stovetop disables the controls. Some other units have cooking levels broken down into fractions, e.g. level 3.4. Might be worth checking out. Second, the cooktop can be a pain to keep clean or at least non-streaky. If you keep the range hood light on, it could look unsightly. Third, I have a real problem keeping my wok and frying pans from sliding off the cooking area as I'm cooking. Pans tend to move easily as you handle them, there is no red glow or flame to guide you and the cooking area remains dark. It's really hard for me to see where the cooking area is. On the plus side, I really like the instant cooking and heat reduction the induction units give you. The cooking area can get warm (the hot pan heats the surface), but not like a conventional electric stove. Also, the layout of the cooking areas is excellent and when the unit is clean, it looks great. In addition, induction cooking is the most energy efficient method of cooking. So would I buy this unit again, probably yes, but I'd probably look at a few other units to be sure.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Induction Faster Than Natural Gas My friends don’t believe how quick water comes to boil until they see it themselves. Unlike gas heating, the pot sides don’t boil before the bottom. The glass surface under the pot gets hot but not enough to burn paper or plastic. There are no knobs to clean around. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This cooktop is a WIN WIN! Had this cooktop for about 2 months now. Love it and highly recommend it. It brings a boil to water in just a few minutes. Its how a cooktop should be - turn it on and your pot is hot in no time at all. Easy to use, easy to clean, looks slick. So worth the price as it is so efficient!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from can't see controls without turning on overhead big This is my second induction cooktop from GE. The first one lasted 5 years and I had to replace it with this model. What I did not realize was that the controls are impossible to read (even in daylight) without turning on an overhead light. What a nuisance. After 2 months there was a red flash and booming sound under one of the heaters and then half the cooktop did not work... Hope the next one will work better.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Controls malfunction with splatters. I wish I had bought the model with real knobs. Often times when I’m cooking if there’s any splatter it goes on the controls. The controls will either go off or I will be unable to turn them off. It is very frustrating sometimes to have to wipe off a control over and over while cooking. Often time the burner will go off 2-3 times for each burner while cooking. Very frustrating. Love it other than this problem.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Confused as to how to rate this I am confused as to how to rate this stovetop. I love how it works. If you can't have a gas range, this is the next best thing. In fact, it some ways it's better than gas. It heats what is in your pot very quickly. As soon as you turn it off, there is no more heat. It's pretty amazing. You do have to have specific cookware. Most of my cookware I already owned worked. I did have to buy a few pieces. My complaint with this product is that it only lasted for about 4 months before it stopped working. We could not even get it to turn on. No idea why. Since it was under a year old, it was still under warranty. So we did not have to pay to have it repaired. But if we were responsible for payment, it would have been cheaper to buy a new one than to repair it. Frustrating. First they replaced the main part of the stovetop. That did not fix the problem. So they replaced the actual glass top. That fixed it. We were without a stove top for over a month. All this to say, beware. I DID buy a three year warranty on this product when we originally bought it. (I never buy warranties. I'm glad I listened to my little voice this time! In fact, I am wondering if I can extend it!) Lowe's did honor their warranty. My stove top is now working again. I still really like using it. It works great. When it works. Praying it works for another 10 years with no problems. But I'm not holding my breath.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love GE I love GE profile products. I had them in my previous house when I remodeled the kitchen. We had the profile stove and microwave/convection oven installed. I just bought a GE Profile induction stove top. It arrived yesterday and we installed it. It is beautiful and I am looking forward to the efficient cooking process. I also love the idea of a built in timer so I won't over cook anything and the chimes that sound, plus the light which shows, when you turn it off and on is a great feature since it is a tough pad control. This will let anyone (sight or hearing impaired) know that they may have accidentally turned it out. Thank you so much for making great appliances to improve our lives and the environment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Took a bit of learning - it's so quick I've been cooking on my GE Induction cooktop for a few months now and have to say I love it. Much faster a halogen cooktop and just way more controllable that gas. Took a bit of adjusting to get used to how efficient the cooktop is and have learned to turn the thing down as soon as the pan starts to heat. Used to cooking on 8 or 9 (out of 10) with halogen, more like 5 and 6 (out of 10) with induction. Easy to keep clean and very safe. It looks great set against my granite counter top.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good at cooking, bad UX The control panel is poorly planned. The older version of this stove would start at a mid range heat (5), but this newest one has you start at 10 or 1, which means a lot of extra button pushing. And those button pushes are VERY noticeable thanks to the loud and obnoxious beeps for every press. Why would you make the stove have these loud Nintendo beeps? At least make a way to turn them off. The actual use of the stove is fine. A good induction range that heats quickly and looks nice.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from do not buy i bought this unit a little over a year ago and the middle burner and the right burner have already stopped working.... since this unit is over a year old it is outside of the warranty coverage.... the unit looks nice but i can only use the 2 small burners on the left side

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Won't cook with anything else The GE induction cooktops are the best! This cooktop cooks quickly, evenly and beautifully, and it is easy to keep clean. I've used it every day for over 6 mos. and it still looks brand new. Great product! Once you cook with an induction cooktop, no other cooktop will do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Far, So Good! This was one of the appliances we had installed in our new house. We have used it several times in the couple of weeks we have been here and it has performed very well. It is necessary for us to get used to the quicker cooking times, but that is not a real problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional Features This induction cooktop is a pleasure to cook on. Not only is it attractive, easy to use, easy to clean but best of all heats up and cools down quickly. It boils water in leass than two minutes saving both cooking and clean-up time. Absolutely love this cooktop!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fit - Super Easy to Clean Up Messes Size is true to product specifications. Boils a full pot of water for a pound of pasta in a minute or so. Cools down very quickly which is a great fire safety benefit! Spills or burnt food wipe off with just a wet dishcloth. Love this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Converting to SS This SS cook top replaced a 10 year old white GE cook top. It was a perfect fit and we were pleasantly surprised to find that our pots and pans worked. We boiled water in a tea pot in less than 3 minutes, and it looks great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Efficient Boiling water was never so easy! It really heats up quickly. It's also very easy to clean which I love. Some people have complained about the buzzing noise as it heats up, but I don't find it to be an issue for me at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So So disappointed! My GE induction cooktop died completely after only 18 months, was replaced by a new induction cooktop with my extended warranty. The new one lasted only 5 weeks because of a factory defect. Not happy at all!
