Front Load Washer with AddWash -5.2 cu.ft -Black Steel is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 419.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broken after only 7 months of use Purchased the washer the beginning of July and waited until the very end of August for delivery after the first 2 came in damaged. After only 7 months it is not working error code 4C. So far 2 companies and 6 appliance repair visits it is still broken. I am now nearing 2 months without a washing machine and it is 3 ring circus between the repair companies, Lowes and Samsung. Works great as an expensive paper weight!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Washer Purchased this washer a couple weeks ago. So far it does an excellent job. Very easy to use. I wipe around the edge where it builds up water and stick a couple paper towels to absorb the excess water and also take the tray where the detergent goes and wipe it out. The last one I got built up mildew and I didn't like that. Hopefully they've improved this but just in case I didn't' want to take a chance. Purchased a base for it but it comes in this week. I need some storage and it's too low not to have one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaking And horrible service We initially liked the Samsung washer but after a few months the clothes started to have a funny smell. Then 9 months after we pirchases the machine it started leaking everywhere. We called Samsung to come out and fix it but their certified technician hasn’t even called in a week. If you buy this washer I hope it doesn’t break because their technicians are horrible and Samsung doesn’t seem to care about getting someone out to fix it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Big Mistake!!!! This washer has been replaced twice and neither one worked properly, both washer lasted less then a year. They replaced nearly every part on the washer they could until for the second time they refunded our money for the purchase price of the washer. Always buy extended warranties they don't make things like they use to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Give us a break I have been debating on whether on purchasing this new washer......Currently i have a Samsung WF455argswr/a2 (2013)...From day on, no issues.....except my wife did not like the fact that there was no water....hahahaha.....She was used to the top loader with huge agitator.....did not understand the technology.....during this time, her chief complaint was how the drum started to smell and the drum was vibrating......so i built two platforms out of 2 x 12's, with ¾ plywood for the top and bottom....put nice ½' carpet on top of if.......these things weighed about 100 pounds each......this did not stop the vibration and Samsung said I needed their pedestals....spent $500 and used those...still have vibration......finally figured it out....Wife is hardly putting in any clothes!......that creates a small ball at the bottom of the drum and as it rotates, the ball goes to one side thus creating the unbalanced operation......we have now solved this issue....more clothes..... As far as the oder goes.......we had never used the "Pure Cycle"....we aways drained the tube and cleaned the filter.....but still had oder and mold smell......so today, I emptied the tube and cleaned filter again and ran the pure cycle.....it took 2hrs.....i saw horrible colored water, suds and debris......the debris was the soap and softener build up.....the liquid soap has animal fat and that cannot be dissolved......so now the machine is cleaned, and almost like new....we do not need to buy a new washer...... Here is what we learned: 1. use very little liquid soap........use powdered soap if you can get it....powered soap will not leave the build up material that causes dirt and mold to build up thus creating the oder because as it cannot digest animal fat 2. run the pure cycle or clean cycle at least once every 40 washes if a new machine....if older, run it every 2 months..... 3. make sure you run the machine more then ½ full or with ¾ full loads....these machines are designed to run with 16-20 bath towels.....the more clothes you wash, the better it will clean because of the rubbing of the clothes and, when it spins you will not have the wicked vibration.....also, make sure the machine is level....... Hope this will answer some of the questions and help solve some of the issues people are having.......... Very respectfully submitted, OKU

Rated 2 out of 5 by from door lock mechanism failed after 1yr Im really upset. I purchased this unit last August and I'm just out of the warranty period, so the washer decided to have issues now as if it was programmed to fail after the warranty expired. Its a great washer if it didn't just break down. What a disappointment in quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Decision It took me two years to pull the trigger on purchasing a new washer and dryer. I did my research and decided to go with a front load instead of a top loader because of the gentleness on the clothes. I wasn't fond of not being able to add laundry to a front loader as I am always finding stray socks, etc that need to go in after I have started a cycle. This Samsung is what we chose and boy was it a great decision. I was conflicted on the steam cycle, is it a gimmic? Well, today I got my answer. My daughter came home from school sick, she had vomit all over a brand new pair of paints that had a white pattern. I put them in a normal cycle, it still had a noticeable spot on the front of them, then I put them in the steam cycle. They look brand new!!! She was so happy that she gets to wear her pants again. Other than this, it is a quiet machine, our water bill has decreased by $10-15 per month, looks fantastic. We purchased the matching dryer and I love them both.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best washer and dryer (gas) set I have ever owned I bought the washer with the gas dryer over the July 4th holiday 2016 and they are amazing . Not sure why there are a couple of reviews stating that this washer is the worst . I guess everyone needs and wants something to complain about because I have had no issues and going on eight weeks and no problems and unlike anything you buy you are going to have a lemon in the bunch but that does not make it a bad washer , I could see if everyone who bought this washer complained , then I would've believed them but they have not .

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This product is slow This washer so far is good enough to not return it to the store. There are 2 things I don't like with it. I'm a woman and it's 2018 . It's an issue if I need to move the machine to clean behind it because it is so heavy. Howcome Samsung didn't put wheels under it so that I can move it when needed. The other thing is it takes to long to wash a load . 45 minutes for a normal wash is to long. I'm worried about my electric bill. I was hoping for an energy efficient it would take less time to do the job like 15 minutes. The other features are great and it washes the clothes very well. It would be nice to add a selection for jeans

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don’t do it! Had the washer for 6 months when the problem began. The machine doesn’t end the wash cycle and will run all day unless you manually stop it. 3 repair appointments later, parts are “on order” First repairman told us not to mix cotton and polyester....hmmm. Next repairman said the washer isn’t meant to be upstairs on the laundry room... ok, in other word if you want a reliable washer, pick something else!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great deal I am still trying to get used to this washer. I have to read the instructional manual each time I use the washer., but the clothes are amazingly clean. Glad I made the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Washing machine for the Price point Its worth paying a few extra bucks to get the quality Samsung offers with its Add-wash washing machine. It pays for its-self over time with this modern energy saving invention of 2017-2018 ; ) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk The washer worked for about 10 months then slowly began to not fully drain until each load would come out soaking wet. The washer could never get up to speed in the spin cycle. It took half a dozen visits from a repair man to figure out it was the motherboard. Once they replaced that, it worked - for about two weeks. Now we are out of warranty and stuck with a machine that takes 2 hours to complete a cycle and doesn't spin the excess water out of the clothes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent washer I like the washer and seems to perform very well. The only thing I didn't like or maybe it's just me. When I select towels and want to put it at a higher temperature it won't let me, so I have to choice another setting. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or maybe I just can't do this. Another thing when I went to do the self clean it took 3 hours to perform. I'm not sure if it uses a lot of water or why it takes so long. I like the feature, but I don't know if I want to do that very often if it takes that long or uses a lot of water. If someone knows please let me know. So far I really like it and does an excellent job. Maybe I just need to get use to it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great washer, but it walks We wanted a front-load washer to allow the kids to help with laundry (and to replace the old rusty one), and this goes with our existing dryer, so we went with it. It cleans well and quickly. Our only complaint is that it walks when it spins. The spin is powerful, and with it being a front loader, it sets it in motion. We also have an older house, so everything shakes during the spin cycle. We will need to have a handyman come by and help us situate and level it better to reduce this issue. That's really our only complaint about it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible experience washer is leaking, water remains in the the detergent/ softener tray and water smells after not using the washer for a few days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great investment! After extensive research, I decided to purchase this Samsung washer, and it's one of my best decisions ever! My children are athletes, so we take this machine to task on an every other day basis - and it cleans the clothes very well, removing the sweat "aroma" and stains. The steam clean feature does excellent on linens, and all of our laundry is clean and fresh. I would definitely recommend this product to everyone looking for a reliable machine with great results at a decent price. The "add wash" door is also a neat and convenient addition for last minute forgotten items. My only regret is not purchasing the pedestal!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent washer - but heads up on SmartThings Really liking the washer so far, as others noted it's full of great features. I was also excited to have it integrated with my other Smart Home/Smart Things devices for monitoring/etc...however it did take a bit of fuss to get set up. First, the unit doesn't come automatically ready for Smart Things integration - you need to buy the Smart Controller accessory which is a plug-in USB deal that goes in the top of the washer. Secondly, the setup for Smart Home is pretty straight forward, but what's confusing is when you're *allowed* to enable the Smart Home Control. The basic "monitoring" features are always on - that is - via Smart Things you can see what cycle it's currently on, ETA, etc, but you can't tell the washer to do anything. The "smart control" features are enabled PER USE - that is - you have to power the washer on, *make sure the doors are closed, including the AddWash hatch*, and then hold the Smart Control button for 3 seconds to enable it FOR THAT SESSION. Once you open the door to change out the laundry, the smart control feature will disable itself and all you will be able to do in the app is Monitor. The fact that Smart Control is per-use is easy to misunderstand at first. I originally assumed Smart Control would just be "on all the time" and that it would simply warn/not let me do certain things if the doors were left open. So when the washer refused to go into Smart Control mode, I thought I had a problem with the washer and/or Smart Control module. After several reboots and re-set-ups I realized that it just wasn't me let it put into Smart Control mode because I had the AddWash hatch open - neither the instructions, UI, or even tech support say to make sure everything is shut. Anyhow, a *little* disappointing that the Control aspect has to be enabled manually, as I had originally wanted to write some WebCore logic to automatically perform a Self Clean every couple months, but at least the Monitoring aspect is always-on which should allow you to set up reminders / push notifications / etc to let you know when things are running / done. Other than the slightly confusing setup, it works and runs great!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Piece of Junk Machine has not worked right since we bought it. Samsung has no one in the area to service the product, town of about 500k, so some guy from 60 miles away is supposed to service it. He had no voicemail or any other number and we tried for two weeks to reach him. Finally called Samsung and they gave him our number to call. He couldn’t come for another two weeks. We had to run the machine on cold until it will no ok get complete a cycle with giving error codes. Piece of junk. I will not buy another Samsung washer again. Rated 2 out of 5 by from 2 repairs in 2 months..... This machine seemed great for the first 2 weeks. Quiet, washed well, and easy to operate. Unfortunately the door started leaking and needed replaced and now the machine rattles and makes a loud squeaking noise. The machine is only 2 months old. Awaiting another repair. Questioning the quality of this product. Samsung customer service has been excellent so far thankfully. Would recommend buying store service program if you purchase this item. I've been led to believe the door leaking issue is not uncommon. Machine also does not have spin only cycle which is a bummer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Already falling apart Only a year and a in and the pieces are already breaking down after normal use. Very disappointed.
Date published: 2019-03-23
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Noisy, High Maintenance Contrary to what Samsung says, the machine is not quiet, vibrates, and squeaks during the wash cycle. Also, the unit is not maintenance free, as the wire mesh filters in the water intake lines must be removed and cleaned out once a year, and the filter (inconveniently located at the lower left hand front corner of the unit) must also be cleaned out every two months. Had I known the machine would be such high maintenance, I would have chosen another brand of washer other than Samsung.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disgusting Mold Problems, clothes smell, two years I have had this washer for a little over 2 years now. It washes okay but no better than most washing machines. The mold problems started within a few months. I run the self cleaning cycle which takes about 4 hours. It does nothing to clean the rubber seal that is around the door. This is a very thick piece of rubber. I tried wiping it down, I tried using only powedered detergent, I am tired of dealing with it. If you back off cleaning all of that for any amount of time the mold will grow and your clothes will stink. Maybe because I live in the south and it's hot and humid, I don't know but it's gross and I am disgusted. You really have to pull the rubber back to get in there to clean it too. It's not easy. I have resorted to using bleach, which also isn't easy when you are tying to get into tight areas. I've also had to replace the control panel already too. I would not recommend this product. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good. We bought this machine a week ago and we really like it. It is so quiet and cleans great. It is easy to use and with the storage underneath it is easy to load an unload. The add wash feature it is very useful if you forget something. The clothes come out less wrinkled then the top loaders. Really quiet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sooooooo disappointed... Washer First Load Failure We had such great hope and excitement as we took delivery of the Samsung Front Load washer and dryer “of our dreams”… Then we did the first load of wash with it. 6 or 7 minutes into the first load cycle, the machine started beeping and we got a “4C” error code on the faceplate. We read the manual and it said it was either a water supply issue or a drain issue. Verifying water pressure was not the issue, we checked the hoses, all fine and none kinked, checked the drain hose and water was coming out the hose and into the drain pipe. Followed the manual and proceeded to let it sit 2-3 minutes and restart the cycle… again, 6-7 minutes into the cycle a 4C code. So now we decide to get the water out of the unit and remove the clothes to do the load my GFs mom’s house and call Samsung. The unit continues to fill and the drum turned. It seemed longer than it should be so I was watching the unit and noticed water coming out of the bottom of the Add Door and dripping down the front of the washer. I opened to Add On door to see what was going on and water began pouring out the Add Door and all over our new Pergo Floor…. We immediately unplug the unit to avoid electrical shock, Shop Vac the water out of the drum, remove the clothing through the Add Door and drain the water out of the unit. Placed a call to Lowe’s (where we bought it… and they were fantastic and very responsive). They took the units back and we have new Samsung top loader washer and matching dryer on order. Yes, we went with Samsung again (every TV in the house is a Samsung)… even BEFORE we called customer service. I placed an email to Samsung about the possible floor damage and the fact we had the issue with the first load of a brand new Washer, also asking for a free extended warranty on the new units to restore my faith in Samsung. I received a phone call today, acknowledging my email, that they documented the possibility of future floor warpage or mold, and the fact they would not address an extended warranty, even though I was an extremely loyal Samsung customer. Disappointed to say the least. If they had just given us the extended warranty, I would have rated the unit and Samsung 5 stars… I truly hope we have no issues with the Top Loader or Samsung has probably lost a lifelong customer….

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't Buy Samsung Washer! Purchased from Lowe's May 2017. June 2017 washer stopped completing high speed spin. First tech Samsung sent did computer diagnostics only. Said no issue. I had to tell him try again with towels in the machine. Problem kept occurring didn't know what it was. I alerted him to a noise of something loose broken in drum but he said that's nothing. Came back 2 weeks later and started replacing wires...motion sensor and wire harness. Claimed wires got must have gotten damaged during delivery...hmmm....anyhow seemed to fix the issue. End of October 2018...same problem again...no high speed spin...only low spin...shuts down. Call Samsung even though now not in warranty but obviously previous repair was not the problem. Also drum much louder during spin cycle. I somehow manage to get a 1 time exception for a service call to cover parts and labor. Problem though....the authorized service they sent out said it is a drum problem, and was always a drum problem that the wires got damaged initiatlly because of the drum rubbing and damaging them...that this was the original problem all along and not properly diagnosed. But he can't do the repair or should I say won't do the repair because it entails taking the machine apart and replacing the entire tub assembly and hours of labor involved. Go back to Samsung a bunch of calls later and now they create a new ticket but now I don't get my exception and they expect me to pay for one of their people to come out to tell me it's a bad drum....I told customer service that I would only entertain another Samsung authorized service if they have the part and can do the repair within 2 weeks. No, I get an email from the place they sent originally who got it wrong the 1st time asking me to call them to come out to diagnose and it will cost me money because no longer under warranty. I already know what it is...and it's not worth paying to repair at this point. So I am off to get a new machine that won't be SAMSUNG...going back to WHIRLPOOL. Their customer service does not listen and I can't believe they would expect me to pay for something that they never fixed in the first place on a brand new machine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy Front load will leak, just a matter of time, and even though you might notice the problem during your warranty period, samsung will not pay if the same exact issue happens after the warranty period expires. We had them come out 4 separate times for the same problem and now they refuse to help since warranty expired. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Purchase Ever! We purchased this washer from Lowes in June 2017. It was the only one they had in stock and we needed one urgently as ours had died. This one had good reviews so we thought it was a great purchase. Everything went perfect into November when it started adding time in the spin cycle. It kept adding time in the spin cycle and would never stop. It would run all day if we let it adding water and spinning. We called for service and that is when the problems began. They called us back and said they would send a link with instructions. The email came with some troubleshooting tips and said they were closing our ticket. We had to call back and reopen the ticket. Two weeks later they dispatched someone. They ordered a motherboard and said it would take a month to come in. End of January they replace the motherboard. It didn’t fix the issue. Called back the same day and told Samsung. Fast forward to March still I still didn’t have a repair appointment, after complaints to Samsung and the repair company both pitted one against the other. I had To get them both in a Conf line and they still couldn’t resolve it. Finally in April they sent someone out again. They ordered stablilizers and said two weeks to come back. Then when they came back in May the technician said it would be useless to put them on as it wouldn’t fix it. Said he would put in a replacement request to Samsung and to wait 72 hours. A week later I called Samsung and they said there was nothing in their system about a replacement. After several complaints filed and a warranty complaint, they finally agreed to replace it. So excited to finally get rid of it and get a different brand. Never again Samsung.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Door won’t close First let me say that all the appliances in my home are Samsung. So we love the product. The front door on the washing machine won’t close. It’s brand new out of the box and has a defect that requires us to wait another week for a new one to come in. Other than that we are happy with the dryer we got just can’t wash our cloths for another week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This machine is glorious. I upgraded to this from my old agitator style washer. I was a little nervous because of all the problems I read about with front loaders. But so far, I have nothing but praise for this one. I have been able to wash things without damaging them or shrinking them for the first time in years. Sweaters? BOOM, done. Huge down alternative comforters? BOOM, done. Work uniforms and workout attire that just smell kind of funky because of dried sweat? BOOM, done. If you take the time and read the manual and really think about what cycle you choose, everything comes out great and so fresh. I also use the steam setting and up the spoil setting if I think a load is specially stinky. That helps a lot. There was one time when I tried to just a normal cycle on a sweaty uniform, and it didn't come out great, so definitely pay attention to the settings you use. The same uniform ran in the heavy soiled cycle with steam came out smelling wonderful. I can't stop smelling my clothes. I'm also amazed that the more powerful settings don't seem to damage my clothes or shrink them. I also love the allergy cycle, which was one of the main features I wanted in my new washer. It's wonderful and my sheets come out so fresh. I usually try to wash all my loads back to back whenever possible, and I carefully dry out the rubber seal in the door and the detergent canisters after I'm done using it. I haven't had any trouble with mildew smells, and my house is pretty much a breeding house for mold (it's shaded and we live in a humid area). Another thing I like is the end of cycle music. It's a happy tune that sounds like an ice cream truck. I leave it on, but it also can be turned off. I was happy also that the delivery guys left me the shipping bolts when I asked. They are huge so I hope I can figure out how to put them in when I move again. The only thing I am having a little trouble with is getting it balanced perfectly. There's just this one part in the rinse cycle where it jerks a few times violently, despite being perfectly sturdy and not wobbling any other time. Adjusting the feet doesn't seem to be something you can do yourself, because the washer is so heavy. You also need a tiny wrench to do it. The only thing a normal wrench will do is adjust the plastic shield that fits over the actual metal part you need to adjust. It seems like you actually need one of those flat metal wrenches (the type that often comes in the page of things you need to assemble). I might call Lowe's and see if they can send someone out again. My house is older so I think the floor might not be perfectly level. The matching dryer is very powerful. Most of my loads with the exception of bedding are not that big, so the dryer really seems to dry everything FAST. It's a little concerning that the dryer won't end the cycle even though the clothes are dry. So I've been getting the hang of it and getting my clothes out earlier. During the first week of using it I was still worried about shrinking my clothes because that's what my old dryer used to do, so I would use the low heat setting. I found out that the low heat setting on this dryer doesn't have very much heat at all and you actually are fine using medium heat. Nothing has shrinked so far.
