Freezer with Fast Freeze Option- 18 cu. ft. - White is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 1266.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Whirlpool 17.7 upright freezer I had to buy a freezer when mine quit at 5 PM on a Sunday. This was closest to mine and store only had floor model which I was a little disappointed was not discounted but it works and is quieter than the GE we had. I wish it had variable temp control though, this only has 3 factory settings. You have to get a thermometer to tell what the temp it is

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Freezer! I had to make a rapid purchase about 6 weeks ago since our old chest freezer was no longer freezing. We went with an upright because I could never find anything in the chest freezer, and stuff at the bottom was always really old when I finally dug it out. I love this freezer! Lots of space and it really lets me organize things. There are only three settings for cold. Essentially cold, colder and coldest. The default is colder but that was not cold enough for me. I am sure it was less than 10 degrees(did not check it) but my test is if the ice cream is hard or semi soft. I want it hard. Coldest works great for that so I am very happy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, but one minor complaint Have only had this new freezer for a week. Delivery and setup was easy except for the door swap. The door comes hinged on the right we needed it switched to the left. All required parts and instructions were included. The problem is with the cosmetic plugs covering the holes on the left side where the bracket would be moved to. Removing them is impossible without snapping the head off leaving the rest of the plug in the threaded hole. It took me 20 minutes of drilling out and digging out the plug tail. Luckily no damage was done to the threads. Suggestion to Whirlpool - just cover those holes with a white label like you did on the holes for the lower bracket.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed. Not working in under 6 months Poor quality. In less then 6 months, the evaporator coils are frozen solid, even with keeping items stored away from the vents. Still under warranty, but the company they use for repairs have a 1.5 star rating at the Better Business Bureau and we have to wait at least 4 days for someone to service it. Luckily, I was able to repair the 25+ year old freezer it was replacing, or everything would be ruined. Seeing other people have the same problem. Will not buy Whirlpool again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost Perfect We bought this freezer in November of 2014 to replace a smaller Frigidaire that finally died. I'm glad I opted for the larger 17.7 cu ft. over the 15.7 cu ft. Fortunately I didn't have to reverse the door and deal with the problems reported in other reviews. My only disappointment is that it's noisier than I expected. I did listen to it in the store and thought it was pretty quiet. At home it's in a small room with tile floor and bare walls so there is nothing to absorb the sound which is a combination of a buzz and a hum. The sound is not that noticeable during the day but at night it can be annoying. Fortunately, I can close the door to the room and it doesn't run all that long when the compressor comes on to cool. If someone was ok with a smaller freezer it sounds like the 15.7 cu ft freezer (Item 624986, Model WZF56R16DW not the Item # 637398, Model WZF34X16DW) might be a better choice on being quiet even though a bit more expensive.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from doesn't last!!!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased the freezer in 2015, expecting it to last a decade or more, as most of our freezers have. Some have provided nearly 25 years of service. Note that our freezers are in an insulated garage with a moderated temperature -- never freezing, never above 70 degrees, so it's not as if the freezer is stressed by high heat. This freezer started failing couple of months after the extended warranty ended. The top shelf was warm, so we pulled the food out, checked the vent area (it was clean), defrosted, removed heavier items from door (thinking we were straining the hinges), made sure to repack food to ensure great air circulation in the interior and added extra ventilation space at the rear... it just lost more cooling capacity. An electrician explained that it needed more refridgerant but that these units do not have a re-charge port,so it was essentially unrepairable, cheaper to buy new than replace entire compressor unit. We lost food and bought a new chest freezer. We have an ideal setting for freezers and depend on them to keep precious foods like game. This freezer was a total waste.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from What a bummer We purchased this item from Lowes In Nov. 2014. On Friday July 15 2017 I found bloody liquid running out from under the door. The freezer was quite full and contents were a total loss. A Frigidaire service man advised there was a leaking condenser inside the sidewalls of the freezer and it would cost more to repair than it was worth. So in Less than three years the total loss was more than $1200.00.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Read views first [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After only owning for only a week it seems ok. Freezer does not have a lock feature and no exterior light or anything else to let you know it's on, this can be a big problem as if the freezer should quit and you didn't need to open it for several days after it quit your food is ruined. Our old freezer quit and we knew it almost immediately as the temp control was on the outside of the door and was electronic, needing to replace immediately in the early evening none that we saw had the display on the outside. Time will tell if this is a good freezer or not.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice Freezer Highly recommended but....Had to reverse door for ease of access. Not hard to do if you are handy with wrenches and screw drivers, takes about 30 mins. Had to destroy the white plastic plugs on top (where the hing would go), weak in design (they have ribs to hold in sheet metal)and can't be removed. No replacements provided. Had to cut them off with side cutters and push remainder inside. Threaded bolts (self tapping)that hold the top hinge are weak metal also, one hex. top broke off during final tightning with ratchet. Will purchase replacement parts to repair. Working just fine, only cosmetic issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from See the light [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A couple of weeks ago we replaced our old freezer with this one. Our old one had an issue with frosting up and part of the coils were rusting. So rather than wait for failure we replaced it. We love having the light in the freezer so we can locate different goodies easily. It’s also easy to roll around its in our garage so this makes it easy to clean behind. The shelves can be moved around to fit larger or custom items without giving up space for other things. Has worked well for us to this point we will have to see what happens in the future but have no indication that it will not last for years to come.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great sized freezer [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had to replace my Frigidaire freezer which quit on me. I had size restrictions but needed a large capacity freezer. This one has worked out perfectly. Actually bigger cubic feet but a smaller footprint than my old freezer. The ability to reverse the door is a great feature. Worked out that the way it was set up did not require me to change the door. Only reason I don't give it five stars is that there are handles imbedded in the door (both sides) so it is a bit more difficult to open than an actual door handle. I understand that due to the reverse ability this would be the only option, so it's more of a learning curve for me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from design comments/concerns [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Only had Freezer for a couple weeks so can't give performance rating. This is just some comments on some things you don't see until you get it home: This freezer was purchased to replace an old one which had same depth measurements (back to front)but this freezer does sticks out further from back wall about an inch. Also concerned with the rounded front--in store did not appear to stick out as far as it does so have concerns it may be more acceptable to scratches. Bottom grill panel is pretty flimsy and front wheels stick out from grill so when cleaning floor these will get hit with mop so have to be careful.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I bought this freezer on June 28, 2019. For the first 14 months, it worked just fine. Now it has stopped working and is, of course, out of warranty!!! Full freezer of food lost! And I need to shop for a new freezer.
Date published: 2020-09-26
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great price! I have only had this 2 weeks. I purchased this online, as my freezer quit & needed a replacement right away. I'm not sure about performance due to short time owning. I am disappointed in the high number of air vents that need to be left open on shelving, which loses space to store food. I am also concerned about all of the frequent running and air flow and frequent change in temperature affecting freezer life of food. I have always had a manual defrost freezer. I was pleased at the # of interior & door shelves. However, the bottom of the freezer has a very small amount of useable space due to a large indent housing the motor or something under the freezer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Don't Play Whirlpool Roulette I brought this home a day before Thanksgiving and, now December 11, still can't use it and it looks like it will be much, much longer before I have an operational freezer. I chose this model because it is one of the few in the world that have a reversible door, and the space I have requires a non-standard left-hinged door. I brought home, set it up, reversed the door, and voila! Huge gap between door seal and freezer; I could put my pinky in the gap and reach inside the freezer with the door closed. Finally I got someone from Whirlpool to set up a service call. I thought it was the seal needed to be fixed but it turns out the pre-drilled holes for the door reversal are incorrectly placed. I have logged in hours on the phone with Whirlpool, and now on 12-11-14, the technician needs 7-10 business days to review the service call's data, which seems to have been lost in system the last three times I've called. I've been told that once the data is reviewed, and if the technician decides that it is a product defect, then they will replace it, though none of that will be scheduled anytime soon. Asking if I would have a working freezer by Christmas, I was told those sort of promises could not be made. This wouldn't be so irritating if I hadn't bought a Whirlpool wash machine a few years ago, which didn't work upon installation and it took about 3 weeks of doing the family's laundry at the Laundromat before Whirlpool replaced it with a working model. Once? I "won" the Whirlpool lottery. Twice? This Mama is done with Whirlpool products unless I need another three hundred pound paperweight.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful Owned just shy of 2 years and need to purchase a new one. Supposed to be frost free, that's a lie. Ice-cream and popsicles are not edible. Thawed to liquid. Freezer temp stays around 10 - 17 degrees on all settings, full or empty. Contacted manufacture, they can't help, it was purchased more than a year ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOTS OF STORAGE AFTER RESEARCHING AND COMPARING DIFFERENT FREEZERS I THINK I MADE A VERY GOOD CHOICE. THE SHELVES ARE ADJUSTABLE AND THE BOTTOM BIN IS GREAT FOR LARGE ITEMS AND IT ALSO HAS A LIP SO THE ITEMS WILL NOT FALL OUT. I LOVE THE 5 SHELVES IN THE DOOR. THE DOOR CAN BE ADJUSTED TO OPEN RIGHT OR LEFT. WHIRLPOOL HAS REALLY DONE GOOD ON GIVING SO MUCH CUBIC FEET IN THE OVERALL MEASUREMENTS OF THE OUTSIDE OF FREEZER. I HAD ONLY A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF SPACE TO WORK WITH AND THIS UPRIGHT WAS A PERFECT FIT. LIVING IN A MOBIL HOME AS YOU KNOW, SPACE IS LIMITED. I HAVE OTHER WHIRLPOOL LARGE APPLIANCES AND HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH ALL OF THEM AND THEY HAVE STOOD BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice size, cheap base. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a handy reversible door freezer. It is brightly lit inside. Lots of storage in the door. It takes less than 8 hours to cool down when using it the first time. It is recommended you wash it out first before using it. I agree. The bottom shelves were very dirty, and had pieces of leftover packaging material in it. It has wheels, which are great for moving forward and backwards, but not so much sideways. The base piece on the bottom of the freezer is a cheap piece of plastic and was already bowed when the installers hooked it up. The freezer comes with two wide shelves and two narrow ones inside. It could definitely use more shelves. It is frost-free.

I bought this in july 2018, has frozen up 2 times now,, Looking for a better brand. hope my washer & dryer that is whirlpool doesn't go out on me...I will never buy another whirlpool freezer,, they should replace this, instead of me buying another one. very, very disappointed.. I have kept it 8-11 inches from the wall, just like it said, kept every thing away from the vents inside too.. still freezes up on back wall.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from After about 10 days we noticed ice buildup at the top of the door. Closer look at the door revealed that it was not making contact at center top. It appears to be a factory defect in the door. Waiting on the service rep to look at it. Will have a more positive reply after this problenm is corrected.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I woiuldn't recommend this to an enemy EITHER! 17 Months, that's SEVENTEEN months and it no longer cools. Called the CS #, and started with a 25 minute wait, then pushed to 37 minutes, then 55 minutes. What kind of freezer won't "freeze" for at least 5-7 years? Nice looking freezer, but avoid it like the plague (don't buy into the reviews, like I did.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Fit When we had problems with our 3-year-old freezer, we called a repair man who said our freezer was beyond repair, and he did not charge us for the visit. He did say that our particular brand was well-known for problems, and advised us not to get another one like it. He recommended Whirlpool. We shopped around, found the prefect fit, and had it delivered the next day. The delivery/installer crew gave tips on how to keep the freezer in perfect condition. The adjustable shelves made it easy to adapt the freezer to our needs. The door handle is quite unique and easy to keep clean. We love this new freezer!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Freezer quits freezing after 3 years. Low quality. Freezer was in laundry room, well cared for, cleaned underneath per instructions, and quit working after three years. Was never moved or anything. Called whirlpool and they do not back up products. This is junk quality. Do not buy. I'm throwing in trash and buying better quality brand. Do not buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Garage Freezer [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this freezer to assist with extra storage. Our family is growing from 3 to 5 with the addition of twins and we needed more than the standard freezer to keep up with the demand. This Whirlpool fits the bill and is a quality product that isn't very deep and fits in our garage along with our two cars just right. I would recommend this for any large family that doesn't want a chest freezer to have to defrost every six months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great buy [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Did a lot of comparison shopping for this freezer and in the end the low price, space, and reputation won. While I've only had it for 5 weeks, hardly any time in what I expect for an appliance' lifetime, it has more than met my expectations. Door suction is super-never any question of whether or not it's closed. Shelf space is great and after digging on my head in a chest freezer this is heaven. Interior is light and bright, door shelving is more than ample. No second guessing on this decision as I'm absolutely happy with the Whirlpool choice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have not had the freezer long, a couple of weeks, but it works good so far. I like the wire shelves, they let air flow much better, and I do not have to worry about the plastic breaking on the glass shelves. It is very roomy inside. We have a mule deer, and two white tail deers inside, along with many other things.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Replacement Freezer [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a replacement purchase for a previous upright freezer that we had been in use for almost 30 years. We've only had this one a couple of weeks but so far so good. My only real complaint is how easy it rolls. I know that sounds odd because that's a good thing if you are trying to move it. But just opening and closing the door is difficult because of just how easy the thing rolls. Its always rolling forward unless you use both hands to open it and then it slams the wall behind it when you go to shut it.
