Hammer Drill - 7.0 A is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Fast And easy I have peviously used a porter cable hammer drill of similar style to drill concrete blocks for hanging things on the walls. The porter cable has a slower but more jackhammer like feel. The Skil feels like it is hammering so fast that it vibrates the stuff out of the hole with sonic waves (not quite but you get the idea) Super smooth and a lot easier to get the holes the right depth and prevent travel prior to sinking in. I definately prefer the Skill. My use this time was to drill into concrete slab foundation and put in tapcon screws to hold down threshholds and transition strips. It worked very well. even blasting through a tough spot (which i believe would have defeated the porter cable equivalent) which I assume was a piece of slag, or a rock. Make sure you drill between 1/4 and 1/2 in deeper than your screw goes and spin the bit in and out to clean out the hole of dust or you'll snap your screws off (oops on one of them!).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool for the price! Just bought it on Friday the 13th, so I was prepared for disappointment, however, I was not because it is a Skil Tool! I have another Skil corded drill but it is not a hammer drill. I needed a hammer drill to anchor two 4x4 posts into concrete to install a gate. The fact that it can hammer drill and regular drill is a big plus. It went through the concrete sidewalk like a hot knife through butter. You have to really hang on using the hammer drill, but it is a HAMMER DRILL after all. Great addition to my shop tools. It was slightly more than an off brand inferior hammer drill so to get this one was an easy decision to make.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great drill would have given this 5 stars but Lowe's advert says it has a built in bubble level (which is why I bought this one#... IT DOES NOT HAVE A BUBBLE LEVEL. Otherwise, it is perfect. Just finished drilling 18 half inch holes through my concrete driveway #4" deep); this drill went through it like butter. Didn't see any sparks as others have reported on these reviews, and chuck holds round bits securely as some claim it slips. All drills require using the chuck key on no less than two of the positions; tightening from only one of the key holes will not fully tighten on bit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great for intended purpose I am a commercial/industrial electrician, and needed an affordable hammer drill to drill 1/4" and 3/16" holes in concreted for drive pins to set junction boxes, pipe spikes, and one hole straps on a small addition job. This drill did the job just fine without the expense of a battery pack type tool, or the weight and bulk of my company's larger SDS type hammerdrills. I will keep this drill in my truck and won't have to go through the logistics of going to our shop to sign out tools for small jobs like this. Probably wouldn't be up to the task of large holes through thick walls (haven't tried that), but should be great for service work and small jobs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just What I Needed Did everything I needed it to do. Make sure you use good concrete bits designed for hammer drills. I made the mistake of using plain old masonry bits and this thing ate 'em up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I got a good deal I had to do some work on my house and my other two hammer drills were over 600 miles away. UGH !!! Bought this because of price. When I was done I was very pleased with the quality and value. Since I already have two others I figured it would make a great gift to my son who had helped with the work. I expect this to last him years and help him understand the value of price/quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good 1/2 drill This is a good drill but if buying this drill for the hammer drill feature. I recomend buying a rotary hammer drill they do a better job in hammering through concrete and brick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful I have had this drill for a year now. I chose it for the hammer drill feacher. It also does regular drilling. The variable speed is a little sensitive on starting until you get used to it. Max RPM is 3000 ! Gobs of power throughout the whole rpm range. I use it often and don't baby it except if it gets a little on the warm side under long heavy use I will let it cool for a minute, but I do that with all my power tools. The cord is a little stiff at room temp. and very stiff at 40 degrees F. or less. The machining of the chuck is a little loose. It works fine if you use 2 or3 of the key holes while tightening the chuck. I like it well enough that I did not replace my 3/8" expensive drill when it recently bit the dust.
