GARDNER BENDER - Multimeters and Testers (8)
Multimeter testers aid in checking to see if outlets are live, and also to find electrical faults. Many receptacle testers feature a series of lights with a key to explain different codes, making diagnostics easy. There are also circuit testers small enough to fit in a pocket, and they require no contact with bare electrical conductors.
Test circuits and make repairs with a screwdriver circuit tester, combining two tools into one. It not only tightens and loosens screws but also alerts the user if it detects live voltage. Use a voltage tester to verify that not only are wires live but also that they’re running the correct voltage to match the application.
Select an analog multimeter for more types of testing options and an easy-to-read dial. These often feature rotary switches to change between different functions such as measuring resistance or direct current amperage. Digital multimeters offer even more functions, as well as both visual and audio alerts and indicators. A circuit breaker identifier determines which breaker powers which outlet.
Twin probe testers provide a safe option for testing voltage, and they glow brighter as voltage increases. Open jaw circuit testers hold wires with the insulating jackets still in place for safe and easy testing and diagnostics. When wires require cutting or splicing, a wire stripper and cutter has different cutting sizes with clear markings. This allows for precise cuts or insulation removal on different types of wiring.
Most electrical testers are made of durable and rugged materials, with housings that stand up to work site environments. Many also feature ergonomic designs for a comfortable, secure grip during operation. They’re useful not only for new construction and renovations but also for detecting electrical and wiring issues such as improper grounding or defective fuses. When working with electrical connections, consider Rona’s selection of testers and tools, including fish tapes for feeding wire through conduits, pipes, and crawl spaces.
