Description
These Dremel carbon steel brushes are an ideal solution for removing rust and corrosion, polishing metals surfaces, deburring and blending surface junctures, cleaning electrical components and more. They can be used on brass, copper or other soft ferrous metals, and they are great for creating an artistic effect on coarse-grained wood items. Steel cleaning on paint
I had the same experiance with the wires breaking off as well as the first reviewer. However, I was trying to clean hardened paint out of old screwheads so I could back out the screws. It was difficult to work around the hinges in a corner of the bathroom, so I occasionally pressed too hard trying to get into the groves of the phillips heads. I also didn’t read the manual, and used 25,000 rmp. Mine too lasted about 15 minutes. However, I was able to get every screwhead clean enough to get the screws backed out!
When I buy the replacement brush, I will make a note on the box to not use over 15,000 rpm.

Brushes work great
I probably bought most if not all of the brushes that were in stock, so this issue may be due to that. All of the brushes were in their original packaging but two or three of them looked as if someone had stepped on them. The brushes were ordered on-line, so I did not get a chance to make my own selection from the current stock. The brushes were not the problem, it was that the person who pulled the stock gave me ones where the bristles were all bent up. Other than that, I use these little brushes for all sorts of tasks such as prep work prior to painting small parts. Work great when restoring old motorcycles.

Did not last
I don't know how long these should last. But I wore one out in about 15 minutes. I don't think I was putting much pressure on it. I had two wires stuck in my hand.

Good but
I use wire brushes for my drill all the time but I had some finer work todo so I tried this wheel for my dremel and was not impressed the wire fibers were pretty much gone in 15 minutes of use. It's ok but only use it on flat surfaces

Good for removing burrs.
Worked really well removing burrs on some freshly cut DIN rail. It made the ends very smooth and saved me a few minutes grinding with a file.
