Small But Powerful
I put this drill to the test as soon as the batteries were charged on my half ton trucks lug nuts that were torqued to 120 foot pounds. The drill removed the lug nuts to my surprise with little effort. The drill is light weight and fits my hand comfortably plus has a non slip grip. I like the versatility of the half inch chuck and the quick 1/4 inch hex. The three power settings and the light switch are easy to use and the light stays on without pulling the trigger so I can see in dark areas. The batteries are light weight and work great with this drill. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

My favorite tool in the shop
This is the first tool I've purchased from Bosch and it has been amazing. I come from a long line of folks that prefer DeWalt and I purchased this loving the 1/2" drive while still being able to use 1/4" hex bits. Best purchase I've made in a long time! It has plenty of torque, great battery life and I've had zero issues with it. I spent 8 hours installing a new wooden fence around my property, running in a few hundred screws and never needed a battery charge or change. When I finished the fence install I popped out the torx bit put on a 21mm socket and rotated the tires on my car. LOVE this tool!

I love mine but it has one issue
This tool has quickly become my #1 go-to tool for everything but drilling. It has plenty of power/torque to get heavy duty jobs done like breaking free lug nuts and runs in hardware smooth as anything. My only complaint is that 99% of bit holders will not work in this tool. The length of the shaft on the bit holder that runs into the impact driver is too short and won't lock in place. I tried about a dozen bit holders I had around the house and not a single one worked. I had to buy one of the Bosch kits (like Lowe's item 777369) so the longer shaft would actually fit.

delighted with this
I will preface this review by saying that I am dealing with degenerative arthritis and am by myself..When this arrived I went through the instructions and then went to work...I was amazed at how compared to others like this it is easy to handle. Within the next day and a half I was able to fix the doggie door, the door on the carport closet and about what seemed like a million other things. One of the best things was knowing that I didn't have to worry about a cord being plugged in and the battery charger was here in case I needed it.
I am very happy that I was included in this research...
I have already told several people about this drill and the ease of use etc. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Bosch brushless impact driver
plenty of power. it may not have the highest rpm or torque as Milwaukee or Dewalt, but it has the durability and power for any tough job. it's more of a heavy duty impact driver and med. duty impact wrench. it WILL remove properly torqued lug nuts. the 3 way lightning is perfect. only wish all my tools were like that. not to mention this thing is a rock. I've gotten it wet, covered with drywall dust, dropped it on asphalt, hardwood and ceramic. its typically Bosch tough. Milwaukee and dewalt cannot say that. Decent tool but WARNING
This impact driver is pretty strong for its size. I love how it has 3 led lights that can stay on without pressing the trigger. Another awesome feature is the selectable low/medium/high setting which works well. On the second time I used this tool the socket retaining clip ring pulled half way off and now it is impossible to use with sockets. It looks like Bosch used a tiny keychain ring instead of the right part. My other 18v impact has the right one so why doesn’t this? I called Bosch and asked for a replacement part or the right kind of clip and they said that I have to pay to ship to them so they can inspect it and they might fix it and ship it back in a couple weeks. I purchased this tool less than 2 weeks ago and they MIGHT be able to fix it for me. Ridiculous. I’ve owned Bosch tools for many years and I love them. My little impact driver on the lower left in the picture is 5 years old and has never let me down and never had one issue with it. My 1/2” impact on the lower right is VERY STRONG and very recommended if you need an impact to take off wheels or anything else. But, the end summary of my review is that this is a strong little guy for little jobs. Do not get this driver impact to take off car wheels or other jobs like that and do not get it if you plan on using the 1/2” socket attachment. Do get this tool if you have a 1/4” attachments. End of story. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Buy it now don't hesitate!
This is a great tool. I fully charged it's battery before starting on a project. I thought it might fail my test and it fooled me completely. I used it to remove and re-install 8 automotive wheels from my two cars. I thought this would be the toughest test of it's strength, durability and life of it's power pack. I did not have to recharge the battery at all and there was still a lot of power left. I am sure it would have gone another 4 wheels.
The strength impressed me. I do have to say it struggled on a few lug nuts and did fail to remove one. Not sure what the torque was on each of the 40 lug nuts I took off. That one lug it failed could very well have been over torqued when installed the last time.
Not only can you use this with a 1/2 impact socket but it also accepts a 1/4 screw bit. And to test the use of the screw bit I took a 3 inch wood decking screw and drove it into a 4x4 post. It went right in with out a struggle. When it gets to the point where the screw fights back the impact feature kicks in and drives it harder.
The drill has 3 different speed settings and each setting can be controlled on a variable speed. So that means you can really control how much force or speed you want. I wish I had this thing when I was putting up my deck and fencing. It has bright lights on the front of the unit to light up what you are working on. The lights can be turned on or off. Also it comes with a belt clip so you can hang it off of your utility belt and there is a holder for an extra screw bit. The battery has an indicator light on it so you will always know how much battery power you have left. The charging station is designed to sit on a counter. The charger has a green light that flashes until the battery becomes fully charged. After my above project with the wheels it took about 1 hour to charge the battery back up. It comes with two batteries.
I have in the past hated rechargeable drills, etc... because the batteries have to be recharged constantly but with this unit and it's two batteries and how long they last I am now sold and will never go back to corded tools. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

18 Volt Cordless Variable Speed Impact Driver
Now what am I supposed to do with my old air compressor?
Bosch has hit a home run!
I'll try and be brief. But this review may be longer than most, as this tool has so many features. I would be remiss to forget any. Reviewing this tool for Lowe's, Bosch made a believer out of me. In this review I compare the Bosch 18 Volt Impact driver to my current pneumatic Ingersoll Rand (I/Rand) impact driver.
This unit is not heavy, about half the weight of my 5 pound pneumatic. Additionally no need to lug around heavy air hose. It is quiet, about 15 (dB) less then my pneumatic. There is no compressor noise coming on and off. Power consumption has to be less, and in Hawai'i where our power costs us 50% more than on the mainland, this is a big factor.
Portability is evident.
Both my I/Rand pneumatic and this Bosch are variable speed, but the Bosch has more, a 3 range variable speed selector. You can set specific speed levels numbering 1, 2, or 3. The ranges limit the top speed, so you can protect yourself form over speeding. The trigger will vary the speeds within any range selected. You cannot overspeed this unit. The higher the speed setting, the higher the torque it seems.
The light on this Bosch is unique to any tool I have used. The 3 LED lights create a very bright work zone, but the lights are controlled by a light switch, not just the trigger found on most other tools. So many times, when starting a task, the user has to tap the trigger to light up the work zone then hurry to said task before the light dims out. Not so with Bosch. you can keep the lights on as long as you like. Again, they are very bright, better than what I have seen on any other cordless tool. Depressing the trigger will light up the LED lights as well, but having the switch gives the operator more choices, and that is a good thing.
The belt clip is removable, allows the user to conform the tool to their use, belt and or shop, or both.
One thing I must make clear. The torque rating on this tool is 1,600 inch pounds and that is equal to just over 130 foot pounds compared to my I/Rand pneumatic that produces 600 foot pounds max torque. I wish tool manufactures would rate their tools by the same standard. The more torque, the bigger chance to produce counter rotational kickback.
Lug nuts for tires rarely exceed 150 pounds. I tested this tool with my torque wrench and found it to produce slightly more than the rated output of 130 foot pounds. Of course safety precludes using an impact driver to attach lug nuts to you wheels. A torque wrench is required to ensure equal pressure of torque on each lug so it does not warp the break lining. But for initial lug installation or removal, this tool is great. This tool removed many lug nuts from wheels with no problem.
The multiple tool tip is a profound idea. Not only can this impact driver accept 1/2" sockets, but the same power shaft is milled in the center to accept standard 1/4" drivers traditionally used for woodworking. This unit can easily move between lug nuts or 1/4" drivers, From cylinder heads to screws into wood. This is a very versatile tool. I would rate this impact driver as a very strong medium duty tool. Strong enough to break the head of any lag screw in wood, but not quite the maximum tool required in a heavy duty auto shop or production line. This is a very good all around tool for any garage or commercial shop. It will handle almost anything that is thrown against it.
As I have stated in my other reviews for Bosch products, reviewing what I have seen and tested these last two weeks makes me really rethink my tool purchase selection process. I was really impressed with the Bosch Impact driver. Coupled with the Bosch wireless charger, a great combination of tools.
Duty cycle is beyond anything any shop will use, excepting a production line. The tool stays cool under heavy use. It just does not get hot.
I was totally impressed. For a medium duty, mufti-use impact driver for any shop, DIY or professional, this is a great tool. Heavy use did not heat up the driver, and its duty cycle is high.
Good job Bosch. Now, i ask again, what I am I going to do with my old air compressor?
