Loud with Rattling and Grinding Noises
I purchased on sale and installed 2 weeks ago. The box is solid. There should be no noise. However, the fan sub-assembly rattles and vibrates when it is operating. The noise is the same when the fan assembly is removed from the enclosure. Something inside is grinding / off balance. The unit is obviously defective. Disappointing and BROAN customer service is not much use. The worst part is that it required me to make a much bigger opening than the unit that it replaced. The fact that the fan unit is sealed means that it can not be cleaned later either.

Reasonable price and quality
Easy to install, later test shows it is pretty quite.

Poor quality parts; Louder than rating suggests
Install was troublesome; Do not believe the hype. You will need all of your patience, tools and several trips to the attic to do this.
The fan moves a lot of air; but it is almost as loud as the 70cfm unit it replaced that is rated at 6 sones.
The hanging clips for the cover are poor in quality and require a lot of work to install.

Half the price and just as good!
I was being urged to buy Panasonic fans and while they are excellent and quiet, they also carry a hefty $150 plus price tag. The Broan is not as quiet but works just as well for half the price. I can live with a tad more more noise in my bathroom fan. :)
