What's the best fan for small bathroom need whole kit
The ventilation from this fan works perfectly fine for our main floor powder room, and it definitely is not a noisy fan. The greater the CFM (cubic foot per minute) of air movement from the fan the greater the ventilation. However, the air movement needs to be balanced against your tolerance for sound of the fan measured in sones. The greater the sone level the nosier the fan. To determine your fan needs simply compute the cubic feet of your bathroom (LxWxH), determine the air ventilation requirements (low, medium, high), and your tolerance for fan noise.

These 2 units are for retrofit in our bathrooms. about 10 year old condo building, and ceiling cut is 10" x 10". Is these unit can fit in the existing hole, and vent size (I belive 3" in place, but is there parts avail. for this joint work ?. Thanks,
Your 10" x 10" cutout is slightly large however the fan cover should hide the excess cutout. The fan vent size is 4" therefore you will need to purchase a 4" to 3" reducer which are readily available.

how large a hole in the ceiling does this fan require?
10" X10" hole required

Can this be mounted on the wall instead of the ceiling
You'd need a pretty Thick wall, 6" of clearance. The squirrel cage (blades) on the shaft of the motor will not be balanced so the bearings may not last for 20 years... But it would work.

It could have been 5*...if only
This fan was easy to install in an existing bathroom. My only complaint is it's not nearly as quiet as what we heard in the store, (-1*) and also the way the springs are used to hold the grill to the ceiling are poorly designed!!(-1*). Mine constantly popped out of the grill on one end. Redesign of how grill is attached is badly needed.

So quiet, you might not realize it's on!
This is a terrific fan - I bought two for each of my bathroom renovations. Very quiet, very efficient. A bit strange that you have to remove the motor assembly to install the duct flap, so a bit of pre-work required before installation. All in all, great value for the money - and the fan cover is substantially larger than the hole required for the fan box, so if you cut the ceiling hole a bit too large, no one will know.

Sounds Terrible
I purchased this fan because the demo model was quiet in the store. Once installed there was a rattling sound, after a lot of investigating, the back pressure from the soffit exhaust makes the rattle sound in the fan itself. If the soffit exhaust is removed and there is no restriction of air flow the fan is quiet. I will be removing this fan and returning it. If you are purchasing this fan make sure you have at least a 5-6" vent, 4" will not be large enough.

Good fan
I installed this fan in my bathroom. Installation was straight forward. Fan has good suction power and is relatively quiet. When listening carefully, there is a minor rattle (I think it's the backdraft preventer in the duct, which attaches to the fan housing), though I don't hear it over the noise of the shower, otherwise this fan would get 5 stars.

Horrible bath fan!
Gets lots of backdrafts as if there no barrier whatsoever to outside air. My bathroom is really cold now. Never had this issue with the previous fan that we replaced it this one. Will have to replace it ASAP. Total waste of money

Works fine but loud and rattly
I bought two of these to be installed in my new house (contractor installed so I can't comment on that, though he did say it seemed to have a big footprint), and while it vents fairly well, they both are quite loud and have a tinny rattling sound as if something is loose, even though I've checked carefully and there isn't. It's fine for the price.
