Is it batch feed or continuous feed?

Asked by: DKVJ
It is continuous feed, it’s powerful enough to not clog it. I’ve put the equivalent of six potato peelings down then carrots then some spoiled macaroni in my refrigerator. It never stops, it just keeps on going.

I want to replace my InSinkErator Badger Series 1/2 HP Garbage Disposal, do you think I could replace it with 3/4 HP without change the position of connections?

Asked by: Ianzhang

Will you install and what is the cost?

"Badger 5 XP" Food Waste Disposer is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 7189.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Disposal We replaced a Badger 5 with this Badger 5XP. Upgraded just a bit. Had the other Badger for about 12 years. Also, very easy to install. I am not the greatest handyman either. It took me about 20 minutes and I even read the instructions!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top quality, easy to install, quiet operation The old one was 17 years old, still working but the rubber splash guard was almost totally gone. The inside was pretty rusted so I figured it's time to replace it rather than just the rubber guard. So I got replaced it with the same model since the old one still worked great and installation would be easy. It was very easy. Didn't need to replace the collar with 'Insinkerator' stamped on it since the original one at the sink opening was still in great shape. That saved a step with putty... the new one works great and is quiet. I will do more with this one to keep it clean and running great for years to come, now that I know about those tips.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful and quiet Sorry to see you leave after 13 faithful years of service Badger5 plus 5/8ths. horsepower In-sink Erator. It was too bad you could not hold your water anymore, even when we tried adult diapers. I had a tear in my eye when I disconnected your plumbing and removed your plug. Now on to your next life after visiting the metal recycling facility. Hello rookie. Badger 5XP ¾ horsepower. You installed just as I expected. Ya I am not as strong today as when I installed your brother, so I used an automobile scissors jack to hold while I secured you in place. You are the strong silent type, for this I am glad to give you a rave review and 5 stars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy replacement for dead Badger 5 Bought a Badger 5XP to replace a 5 year old Badger 5. The old 5 developed a leak through the bottom (which I thankfully caught early). I would normally hope these would last a little longer, but we use it all the time and the last one had a garlic press basket go down it (metal that was fished out after the fact), so in reality it owed us nothing. Went with the 5XP over the 444 or the Evolution Series because of the space needed under the sink, and the ease of installation (no plumbing modifications, as the mounts are identical to the 5). The plug/wiring was a little finicky to transfer, but everything swapped over, and it works as expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the Badger is a perfect name for it. I installed the Badger at the same time as a new RO system since I would be under the sink anyway. install took about 3 hours total doing both items and replacing all the drain plumbing from sink to wall connection. one thing we discovered was when the Badger was fully loaded it will send it through the drain. the drain pipes have 2 different flow direction pieces built into the RO drain and the T connect under sink #2. over loading caused these points to plug and then water backed up and out the RO faucet connection for its drain air lock built into the faucet mounted into sink. made a mess but lesson was learned to feed the beast slowly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Badger experience in general ......... new and old Actually, readers might be more interested in the Badger disposal that I replaced. It was here when I bought my house 16 years ago. I don't know how long it had been here prior to that. It developed a leak recently, and I replaced it with another Badger based on its proven reliability. I'm hoping the new one is half as sturdy as the one I replaced. I didn't install the new one. The plumber was here for other reasons, and I had him install it. Took him about 15 minutes. I'm not sure how a disposal can be innovating, so I give an average score. Overall, I'm giving it 5 stars because I expect it (hope) it will perform as well as the one I replaced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable service This new unit has been in service one month, having replaced the same model that operated reliably for more than 8 years before just quitting. The unit is effective and reasonably quiet, easy to unjam (rarely happens) using an allen-type tool inserted into the exterior socket at the bottom. Installation is strenuous due to weight of unit and cramped location; however, once inserted into the bottom-of-the-sink fixture, it easily twists and locks into place. Note that the required power cord is not included, probably because the length depends on proximity to power source (socket). I installed the new unit using the cord from the old unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replaced Evolution series with Badger 5XP I replaced an ailing Insinkerator Evolution with the much cheaper Badger 5XP. Great move. The Badger is not as quiet by a very larger margin but it sucks wasted down the drain much better and overall water drainage is much more effective with the traditional rubber drain baffle than the Quiet Collar. Water would sometimes not drain at all with the Quiet Collar. Except for the sound level, the Badger works in all ways better than the Evolution. The only catch is when I replaced the Evolution, the Badger discharge pipe is not in the same location so I needed to buy the Flexible Discharge Pipe... which works fine. Overall very pleased with Badger 5XP.
