Drain battery like crazy. Can only cut 5/64
I use a new fully deWalt 6amp XR battery, can only plain about half of a 4x4 wood (1.5inch) before the battery is dead and have to switch to another battery. I tried a deWalt 5amp battery that I just bought for about 2 weeks fully charged to test it out, the same thing eats battery very fast. Very disappointed. No dust bag (but I own a dewalt Mitre Saw and it fits in it, however it only works in thin cut, higher deep cut the dust collection bag does not work as the wood chip would come out from the bottom). No case. Does not come with extra blades. I recommend to go with the corded version, much cheaper and comes with a case. I wish I bought a corded version.

Very easy to use.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first power planner. I got it to smooth out rough fence pickets, saves me so much time I practically don't have to sand the pickets. Also I'm surprised how nice of a finish is left. It is almost glass like, that said, this tool is battery hungry. I used my 2 amp hour battery at first, I'll killed that battery after doing two 8 ft by 6 in boards both sides though. But after some learning and fine tuning what I was doing I'd get about 20 boards(both sides) done on a 4 amp hour battery. All in all I wish I had bought one of these much sooner. I'm very pleased with how it works.

hanging doors
We were hanging 14 door slabs today, all which were 1/16 - 1/4" too wide. This tool did the trick. Guide is wobbly, and had trouble at first keeping it square. I used a dust bag, which filled up fast, and then threw shavings everywhere. I started to empty it after ever 3rd 7' pass. 4AH battery lasted about 54 lf at 1/16" depth on a hollow core door before needing a new battery. Have a few spare batteries handy.

Dewalt Cordless Planer
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works as advertised. Doesn't remove wood as fast as my corded planer but I bought this for working on job sites without power. After all who wants to start up a generator just to to run a planer? The planer comes with a couple of spare baldes stored in the tool which is nice. If you always have power available a corded planer is a better option but for me this is a good option.

Up to DeWalt’s standard
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve become a bit of a DeWalt “groupie” after discovering their XR series. This planer is no exception for my high expectations! It’s very maneuverable and excellent with large and small projects. I’m satisfied.

AWESOME TOOL 10 STARS!!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My wife is in a power chair, cannot walk. I needed to build a transition ramp from the front door 4" step up into the entry of our home. Using the ChoiceDeck decking boards and 2" x 4" x 48" also from ChoiceDeck I was able to make rough cuts for a 48" diagonal creating two supports under the decking. Making 5 of these for the 72" double door wide entry I was able to make final clean cuts by using this planer. At the lead edge of the ramp to avoid a 3/4" "bump" onto the ramp I planed one of the 72" compositions deck boards to create a smooth transition from the concrete to the ramp. This went so smoothly I was able to complete the ramp in a single day. Without the planer I'd still be at it. FANTASTIC TOOL.

Cannot find dust bag or replacement blades
The instructions caution against using the tool without a dust bag, but it does not come with one and it is not sold on this site or anywhere else that I can find. This lack of parts really diminishes the tools appeal

Great Tool - Need part numbers
It works great, but I have to admit Dewalt is making it more and more difficult to find replacement parts. The tool has a compartment for extra blades. Where is the part number for extra blades??? I have some scratches on the front and rear shoes already, where are the part numbers for just the metal shoes???
