How can you sell this in liters? we thought it would be a liquid
Litres shows volume... if they sold it in grams/pounds that would not be helpful at all.

What is the typical lifespan of this product? How long is the colour guaranteed for?
We have been topping up our gardens with this product for three years....it doesn't seem to fade, but we have a fairly shaded yard, front and back.

Is it more of a thicker mulch (like pieces of bark) or a finer shredded mulch?
More like shredded mulch. There are occasional larger pieces but certainly no bark.

is it safe for the kids to play with it? I'm planning to make my son a playground in the backyard
Yes, with shoes otherwise they'll get splinters. The black color does run too so maybe the natural non-dyed mulch.

Why does it say to put the ceder mulch away from house foundation
We recommend against applying mulch right next to the home foundation, as this can cause an issue with moisture and can harbor insects. Applications away from the foundation will help to prevent weeds, retain moisture in landscaped areas and improve the look of landscaping.

So far my favourite mulch
I've tried a few different brands and so far this brand has been the best for my garden. Every year I add a top layer and refresh the look, but that should be expected. I have lots of sun and have not experienced the fading some have mentioned. After the winter covered in snow it is a bit lighter, but I was told that is normal.if you want something more permanent - rubber mulch or rocks may be better, but all need touch ups now and again. Also, peonies attract ants, so that may have been why one customer had ants. I haven't had ants and have been using it for three years.

black mulch
We spread it in all our gardens May 2016.....its now then end of March 2017 and my husband just commented how great it still looks..nice and black still which makes the garden looks tidy, rare this time of year. we will be buying more this year as it kept the weeds now to bare minimum which was our reason for purchase.. mulch and screen. we figure on adding every year so we will complete weed free garden. very impressed also on how the colour held up considering the reviews....maybe if your gardens are in a sunny location it would fad fast but ours are pretty shady so the colour held up amazingly.

Good until wet.
I bought this for the Lee side of my house where grass won't grow. I prepped the area with edging and landscaping fabric, then out down 17 bags of this mulch. It had a chemical stink for about 5 days, likely from the colorant used in the mulch. Then it rained, and rained. Of course even the keep side got wet. What a shock when I started seeing inky top mushrooms appearing!!! This things are nasty so I've been scooping them and the mulch up and throwing them in the trash.
Morale: go neither premium cedar mulch. Its supposed to have natural fungicides. Meantime this is money well wasted.

Too many mushrooms
Have bought this for the last 3 years, at least 15 bags I put down over the landscape fabric. The last 2 years I've gotten mushrooms and this year the weirdest ones that attract flies. So many flies. Gross. Will not be buying again. Too bad as the Forest Brown is a really nice colour.

The black mulch makes for a more dramatic contrast
We usually use beige, and I was worried the garden would be too hot. It's not, and the mulch holds in a lot of moisture. I can't stand pulling weeds and getting chewed by mosquitoes, so this has definitely solved that problem. I would definitely buy it again. And watch for sales - I got it at $3.50/bag.

love it. color stays 2 years running
its worth the extra $$ to get this. other mulch seems to bleed and the color fades. The black one from Scotts is great. ive had it for 2 years thus far and no issues.
WIll load up and buy more.

Good mulch- size, colour, and good value
We ordered several cubic yards of this as part of a very large order from Lowes last spring. I like the way it put down and spread, and even after the icy winter and completely waterlogged spring, the black has only slowly faded. It generally has stayed in place in all the beds. In the beds without fabric, it has just decomposed at the bottom layer, improving our hard clay soil. We had a dozen bags left over that were out all year and have just placed them down this week in the new areas we finished landscaping, and they look great- theres a few earthworms in there but no weeds have sprouted in the bags. Overall, im REALLY happy with this mulch. Further, the bags are much easier to move around our large yard compared to having a bulk order dumped on the driveway. Would definitely buy again!
