1. Draw the shape

Draw only one of the 4 sides of the umbrella stand on paper, in the shape of your choice, then cut out with scissors or a matt knife. You must also draw the bottom of the stand, in the size of the hole resulting from the assembling of the four sides.

2. Trace and cut

Trace the 4 sides and the bottom of the stand on solid wood or plywood, 5/8" (1.5 cm) thick. Cut with a jig saw.

3. Sand and glue

Sand the edges of the sides and assemble with wood glue. Use adhesive tape to hold the pieces together while gluing. Let dry for 12 hours. Remove adhesive tape.

4. Apply the primer

Using a paintbrush, apply a coat of Laurentide Prime Time Duo Primer Sealer over the entire stand.

5. Give a base coat

Using a paintbrush, apply a base coat of Garden Green (B214-32) over both inside and outside surfaces and let dry for 4 hours.

6. Decorating the top

Mask off an area at the top of the stand using masking tape.

At the top of that area, apply a generous coat of NOSTALGIA Crackling, inside and out, using a paintbrush. Let dry for 1 hour.

7. Apply the Titanium Latex

Using a paintbrush, apply Titanium Porcelain Latex (B105-20) over the dry crackling. It is important to cover the entire surface over which there is crackling. Let dry for 12 hours.

8. Paint the motifs

Using a stamp or stencil, paint a repeat pattern on the lower part of the umbrella stand in Fine Porcelain (B105-20). Let dry for 4 hours.

Using a different stamp or stencil, paint a pattern on the upper part of the stand in Fall Breeze (A219-24).

9. Apply the Gold Pearlescent

Using a paintbrush, rub ARTIFICE Pearlescent Dark Gold over the entire surface, top and bottom. Before it dries, wipe certain patches with a damp rag to remove the gold.

We recommend you apply and wipe ARTIFICE Pearlescent Dark Gold on a single surface at a time. Let dry 7 days.

10. Varnish

Use a paintbrush to apply BRÏO Varnish Velvet Finish. Let dry from 6 to 8 hours.

11. Give it the final touch

Using epoxy glue, attach feathers, glass beads or any other object that will blend in well with your umbrella stand.
Enjoy!!
