Build a treated wood fence - oasis style

This is a standard fence design to which diamond-shaped openings have been added for a modern and unique touch. The openings help create a lighter, airier effect, totally in keeping with the oasis style. This simple project is suitable for all DIY skill levels.

The fence is made from panels 96" long by 72" high. The panels can be screwed directly to the posts or they can rest on metal stirrups. The boards at the back are narrower than those at the front. They are made by splitting a 1" x 6" board down the middle. The two large diamond shapes are made separately and then inserted in the openings.

This plan does not include instructions for installing the 4" x 4" posts, which should be set into sonotube cement forms buried under the frost line.
