Ogden Road location offers one-stop shopping for builders and contractors and boasts one of Calgary’s largest lumberyards

– RONA Inc. (“RONA”) (TSX: RON), the leading Canadian home and gardening retailer and distributor today opened its newest RONA Building Centre located at 3005 Ogden Road S.E. Calgary. The 12,000 square foot (1115 sq.m.) specialized store features a contractor showroom and a technical centre that designs and sells roof and floor trusses manufactured by RONA Timbertec Truss.

The new Ogden Road RONA Building Centre carries more than 12,000 products and boasts one of Calgary’s largest lumberyards at 10 acres (4.05 hectares). The RONA Building Centre is more than twice as big as the previous store on the site.

“Our unique store concept is designed to suit all the needs of home builders and contractors,” says Claude Bernier, RONA Inc. Executive Vice-President, Traditional Banners. “The new RONA Building Centre offers them an extensive assortment of products and exclusive home solutions.”

The RONA Building Centre specializes in services for contractors such as crane-truck delivery, a contractors-only service counter and personalized financing. Contractors can use the store’s showroom to demonstrate special order products and fixtures to their clients. The new store features six major departments including paint, hardware, building materials, electrical, plumbing and tools. The store offers contractors and trades people one of the widest selection of tools in Western Canada. As well, there are boutiques for bath, doors and windows.

“We have more than 100 employees, 13 delivery trucks and 13 forklifts,” says Store Manager, Randy Philipchuk. “Our offices and a training centre are located here too, so we can provide our customers with the service and the expertise they expect.” The 40,000 sq.ft. (3715 sq.m.) warehouse, built in 1958, will continue to operate at the same location.

Mr. Bernier, Ward 9 Alderman Joe Ceci and Calgary Chamber of Commerce President, Murray Sigler, donned safety goggles and together used a power handsaw to cut a wooden beam to officially open the store. Members of the Calgary Stampeders Football Club and the Stampeder Outriders were on hand for the Grand Opening, which also featured tours and an luncheon for more than 400 contractors, employees and special guests.
