Installing a Polyroche wall covering

This covering is made of polyurethane panels especially formulated and are installed side by side. Each panel is 4 ft. 4 in. in height and covers a 4 foot-square area. This product is sold in boxes of 4 panels. These panels are a tongue and groove concept, are interlocked and are installed with screws. These panels can be installed indoor or outdoor.

For an exterior installation: if the exterior wall is covered with plywood sheets, you can screw these panels directly into the plywood. If not, you must cover the exterior of the house with furrings (pieces of 1 × 3 in.) installed vertically over the Tyvek.

For an installation indoor: you can apply the panels directly on the gypsum, bricks or any other flat surface.

1. Install a corner

Start each row by first installing a corner. Screw at an angle, two, 3 in. screws over the pieces, so they penetrate in the corner of the wall.

2. Level the first row

With a level, make sure everything is plumb and install the panels by screwing in the upper lip on the studs.

3. Cut panels

If you have to cut a panel, mark out your score lines according to your measurements on the back and with a circular saw, cut from the back along the score lines.

4. Adjust and install panels

4.1

To have a perfect fit of the panels with the corner pieces, cut the lip (edge allowing screwing) of the inside of the corner.

4.2

Offset the panels at each row to create a realistic staggered effect. To do this, cut the panels at half length, every two rows.

4.3

When you reach the top of the wall, or the edge of a window or door, cut in a way that will fill the whole space.

5. Install edges

5.1

Before anchoring the horizontal edges of the covering, cut the upper lip of the panels so as to perfectly adjust these two parts.

5.2

Install the horizontal edges over the last row of panels and screw them in the front, making sure they go all the way through, into the furring, with 3 in. anti-erosion screws.

5.3

Install the edges on the perimeter of the doors and windows.

5.4

Once everything is in place, cover the screw heads, the window perimeters and the jointing of edges and corners with a Polyroche textured grout.
Using the right equipment, your determination and a bit of elbow grease, the successful completion of this project is just a few steps away!
